It's when we do, that opens the mind, heart and soul to Jesus and the love and compassion to help our fellow earth dwellers will all be in the book of works, yet even by doing that, doesn't grant everlasting life in Heaven. It's understanding that thru Jesus and knowing he was sacrificed for our sins, from his blood shall we be clensed. I pray for this world and it's inhabitants every day. Women mostly have asked me why I don't have any USMC tattoo; "I say, I got the 'tattoos' I earned in the form of very many physical & some not visible "SCARS".
I never felt the need for an actual tattoo.
Only one of 27 I knew of from my undermanned platoon that made it home alive.
We stopped getting new replacements(in Country) in March, just could not keep them alive long enough even to get a letter from home.
So we just made do with the remaining 32 after that. We tried to keep alive & surviving best they can.
We lost them one or two at a time thru April 8rd; that was the day I got in 152 mm arty & 82 mm mortar barrage fairly soon after we got to the top of Hill 689.
There was a medevac CH-46 coming in so ~10 of us were caught in the open.
We couldn't have hear the arty or mortars being shot or incoming.
We were went to load WIA & KIA but we were wounded or worse instantly.
I was all shot up & broke up from the shrapnel & nearly instant NVA machine gun fire.
I finally got off the hill I think in several hours on a very overloaded Sea Knight & eventually sent to a hospital near home ~six months later.
I heard the few remaining of my platoon were killed in a massive L shape ambush on April 16th from a wounded Marine that day from another platoon in my company in Guam.
Put in an unpatchable hole in my existence after hearding that....
Tried to live my life for them, it is the least I can do.
I have always felt I should have been there with them that day.
If you hadn't been thru 77+ days of continuous close quarter mortal combat, I know you don't have a idea what the hell I writing about.
Think what you want but don't have an fixed opinion if you haven't earned that right.
We were there & nothing can ever change this.

My first country song

For the longest time I could not listen to this song. Just started about 2 months ago. This song was on the radio when it first came out and I was going through a 20 year divorce. I was definitely cut deep. Still hard to listen to all these years later. But this is a great video and I didn't realize that it was military in nature. I am a veteran but this song means totally different for me than the video. depicts. Beautiful song.
