Ronettes, The - You Came, You Saw, You Conquered Lyrics

I didn't have a care or worry
I wasn't in the slightest hurry
To fall in love and give my heart away oh baby
So hurt many times before that I said this time for sure
I was locking up the door then baby
Oo you came you saw you conquered all the love in me
Oo you came you saw you turned your loving right on in me oooh

My enemy was warm desire
You shot me down with lips of fire
I ran for cover straight into your arms
Oh baby
Footloose and fancy free nobody, could get a hold of me
Then you kissed me tenderly and baby
Oo you came you saw you conquered all the love in me
Oh baby oo you came you saw you turned your loving right on in me oooh

Goodbye heart of mine
Hello sweet ties of love that bind
I'll try love just this one more time
Cause baby
Oo you came you saw you conquered all the love in me
Oh baby oo you came you saw you turned your loving right on in me oooh
Ooh

This sounds so like an ABBA tune, it's clear where their inspiration came from....

I'm dyslexic with the word clean,ha ha ha!

  5. A.... O....

Love the Ronettes singing so much, I grew up on real music like this. Phil Spector sure could write the words for the Ronettes beautiful songs. Saw them in 66, what beautiful classy woman they were.

  6. r.... ....

I just made a Wikipedia article for this song. It was covered by The Pearls and hit #32 in the UK in 1972! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Came,_You_Saw,_You_Conquered

this fantastic old record begs and pleads for a modern stereo remix

  9. R.... C....

What a catchy beat ..........love it .........could have made it as a single !

    R.... C....

Brain-dead radio wouldn't program this classic, was on A&M single and wore it out!

  10. I.... ....

sounds like it would have won a Grammy, if it were released in the year 1965 or better yet - earlier. was it an old song he decided to record and release 4 years too late? the style of music changed so much by 1969. it didn't stand a chance.

    I.... ....

That's what I was thinking. Sounds like something pre-Beatles.

    I.... ....

had the 45rpm on A&M and wore it out, radio was out of it and wouldn't program them

    I.... ....

Yes it really belongs to 1963. Sad that it sunk without trace 6 years late.

They don't make classy women like them anymore. The Supremes, Marvelettes, etc.

    r.... y....

Funny thing is how they were considered 'loose' for their time. Oh, how perspectives change!

  12. F.... J....

I still don't understand why this song wasn't released as single.

    F.... J....

Whether all three of the original girls were on the recording, I don't know, It was recorded, however, as THE RONETTES.

    F.... J....

only Ronnie is singing on this recording.

    F.... J....

It hit the charts too, but only reached U.S. #108 (Billboard) and #92 (Cash Box). But in Canada it hit #73 for two weeks. And a UK cover by The Pearls hit #32 in 1972.

    F.... J....

Yes it was in the uk it had 'I can hear music on the 'B' side. I also have the single on A&M.

    F.... J....

Loved this Ronettes gem and had A&M 45 but stupid radio wouldn't play, they fucked up not playing great stuff and it went away, hence awful music today
