Rolling Stones, The - Yesterday's Papers Lyrics

Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world
After this time i finally learned
After the pain and hurt
After all this what have i achieved
I've realized it's time to leave
Cause
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world
Living a life of constant change
Every day means the turn of a page
Yesterdays papers are such bad news
Same thing applies to me and you
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world
Seems very hard to have just one girl
When there's a million in the world
All of these people just can't wait
To fall right into their big mistake
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world

THIS IS A FAB LP AND ONE OF THE STONES BEST--VINTAGE STUFF

I really never gave it a listen but I have to agree with the reviews of it after I finally listened to it . Yes it had some strong singles/tracks but it is basically an abysmal failure . Critics of the time could also scorn the Rolling Stones' Satanic Majety's Request as a failed attempt at cashing in on Sgt. Pepper success and basically being a failure but Satanic Majesty wasn't. It was a solid Masterpiece of its own regardless of whether they were trying to keep up with the Beatles and the times or not. There was a such thing as ricocheting influences back then and genre experimentation. This album had some uninspired songwriter amid the great songs and it tapped into the English type vaudeville that was around back then . As I said on another thread , Jagger/Richards just couldn't adequately do Ray Davies and Paul McCartney's handling of this thing. They realized it & went back to blues & evolved from the Appalachian type blues of Beggars Banquet to moving towards Chicago/St Louis style on Let It Bleed and fully so on Sticky Fingers. Stones with help of Mick Taylor found their niche .

I like it, The Stones of the 60's had a kind of bluesy tone of which mezermizes me and Brian Jones contribution.

    @Dag Nabbit
    Hi Dag,
You must always remember the times we were living in. The styles, studios, trends and mostly the talent and ability of the artist. Between the Buttons to me as a 13 year old was out of this world. It was like a new dawn. Elvis was for the "oldies". This was Rock and roll. R&M .
Music and lyrics pure magic. Even Charlie's drawings I loved it and still do. When you play it you go back in time but dance to the future.
    Take care and keep rocking

@peadar macdiarmada Well Satanic Majesty had its detractors too. Sgt. Pepper knock off etc. ( which it was ) but I think it is a solid LP . Not Spotty like Between The Buttons IMHO . Stones were superb in mixing the Blues and thata peculiar across the pond psycchedelia which was called " English Acid Rock " Still best LP from that period and ackowledged , honored Masterpiece ( especially in Europe ) is Forever Changes by Love . I didn't hear it until 1980. First read about it in the now defunct Creem Magazine . Decided to seek it out and on first listen it blew me away.

This brings me back....authentic, baby, official....even the stones cannot replicate this sound, a xylophone, pretty renegade for those times, i remember...last concert I saw by the stones, they crapped it up with alot of self- satisfying.... i like the original shit, me and my girl, we remember it

    Haunting.
