where's california?

Glenna Johnson California is one of the larger states in the United States. It is one of the 3 states on the west coast, along with Washington and Oregon. It includes cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. It borders Oregon to the north, Nevada and Arizona to the west, and the country of Mexico to the south. It is part of the Mexican Cession that was obtained from the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo that ended the Mexican-American War in 1848, during James Polk's presidency. It was a sought after piece of land due to Manifest Destiny. It's capital is Sacramento. It is the third most western state, behind Alaska at first and Hawaii at second. That being said, I hope you now know where and what California is.

I absolutely detest both this song and this faux earnest "jang jang, jangta jang jang" acoustic guitar style, and moreover I am skeptical of anybody who finds either interesting. There.  I've said it.  Thanks for sharing, though.  Peace.

don't know exactly what about this song would qualify it as "hipster" music.  Frankly, I think that the term hipster is so overused these days, it demonstrates a measure of laziness of those who use it in a manner to describe something they don't like, no offense intended.  "To each his own," I say, with regard to music and other subjective aesthetic-related tastes.  I suppose I just prefer someone's critique to be a bit more explanatory as to how they dislike whatever work they're referring to; oh god, i sound like a submission to /r/iamverysmart.... yikes,.. if you hate this song.  right on.  i don't, personally; though it isn't even close to making a favorite song list of mine, not by any means.  but i do enjoy it.. and I have no issue with you expressing your dislike of it.. normally i wouldn't even comment on a post like this, or any other youtube comment or video for that matter...  I suppose the only reason I'm doing this now is because I'm kinda drunk and looking for an outlet..  wow, here's 15 minutes I could have spent better........ peace

@pateeli412 He's not singing out of complete contempt of California. He's stating that life here is hard and yet it holds a special place for many because it is, at the end of the day, home. That's why he sings "so lead us there". Yes Cali can be a drag a lot of the time, but it is a great place in which to visit, play and live.

I hate California, I'm glad I have Texas to lay my head and smile with.

I'll take southern Cali over southern Ontario any day, its too cold when it's cold, too hot when it's hot, no art culture and just as many fake people. There are fake people everywhere, just like I'm sure there are some real people in Cali.

I've lived in southern California my entire life and I love it (except for all the traffic), but I also love songs that regard it with such disdain.Sometimes I want to get away too. And hey, we DO have seasons!!

I've really gotta disagree with whoever said the guitar part sounds like "Norwegian Wood", I actually think it sounds more like the opening notes of that Little Mermaid song "Under the Sea". It's not like they're identical or anything, but there's definitely a similarity

Anyone else notice that "Light" rock is referred to as indie? I played with Rogue wave at SXSW 2010 and they are a great band. But since when is Indie rock just a new way of saying Light rock?

California is my home, even though sometimes I get bored at home. One day I want to move to San Fran. Listen to Mason Jenning's "California"..I like it better.

Maybe the song is just about...not feeling at home in the place you're meant to feel at home in...and being able to find happiness and home and family elsewhere, in someplace new. I know I hate my home a lot sometimes and just want to get away.

if you've only watched 1 episode of The O.C. how can u dis it?? Be4 i watched more than 1 episode hated the show, now i love it! The O.C. had great music, a pretty good cast, and good plots most of the time. so wut if some episodes were 'bout girlfriends braking up, it was a teen drama! btw mythbusters sucks!! And The O.C. was great :)
