Roger Waters - 5.06 AM (Every Strangers Eyes) Lyrics

Hello...you wanna cup of coffee?
I'm sorry, would you like a cup of coffee?
Ok you take cream and sugar?
In truck stops and hamburger joints
In Cadillac limousines
In the company of has-beens
And bent-backs and sleeping forms
On pavement steps
In libraries and railway stations
In books and banks
In the pages of history
In suicidal cavalry attacks
I recognise...
Myself in every stranger's eyes

And now from where I stand
Upon this hill I plundered from the pool
I look around, I search the skies
I shade my eyes, so nearly blind
And I see signs of half remembered days
I hear bells that chime in strange familiar ways
I recognise...
The hope you kindle in your eyes

It's oh so easy now
As we lie here in the dark
Nothing interferes it's obvious
How to beat the tears
That threaten to snuff out
The spark of our love

He looks ever so different now, aging is fucking weird!

  16. b.... ....

It just occurred to me that Pink Floyd's 1987 "Learning to Fly" has similar visuals (mainly the flying above land and water) as this video from 1984.

    Just noticed.

  17. m.... ....

    Timeless masterpiece

  45. D.... W....

    Beautiful...no words.

  46. K.... ....

Roger Waters' lyrics & voice with Eric Clapton on guitar - a gorgeous combination.

  47. L.... ....

How to beat the tears that threaten to snuff out the spark of our love? Thats it.

  48. K.... ....

There was a band around at the time that would needed a singer/writer of this calibre. They are called Pink Floyd and just create mundane elevator music. This guy would give them the edginess to make them really great. ;)

    K.... ....

Yeah too bad Roger left on his own accord and was so egotistical that he thought the others couldn’t carry on. Roger is a great lyricist but a profound asshole. He couldn’t even tune his own bass. I think he left at the right time because his voice was really starting to go. He just talks instead of singing and then occasionally lets out some screeches.

    K.... ....

They really needed him. They ended making garbage like the Division bell.

    K.... ....

    And Momentary lapse.

  49. R.... L....

Just excellent for the body, mind and spirit .👍Beautiful.
    Thank you v much.

    D.... J....

@Kirkland Whatley That's correct. The combination is what made them great. Apart from each other, they were so so.

  90. G.... P....

    Excellent

  91. D.... M....

El disco completo es una obra de arte.

  92. t.... k....

why have i never seen a video from this album? my life has meant nothing for decades. : (

  93. K.... M....

OK, never had any doubt that RW is sincere in music writing, though his blind-folded biases in certain circumstances is hard to believe, even for a moderate. But - the whole "P&C of HH" album is an endless road of sopping, a self indulgence DIY for *blame it on someone else*, or whatever you might call it. As depressing and no-value as The Final Cut, the worst album ever with a PF label on it. I prefer the REAL Pink Floyd (RIP Syd and Rick) in stead of this depressing piece of ...?, well, "music"....

  94. L.... L....

    Absolute musical masterpiece

  95. T.... ....

It’s my personal favorite Waters’ work, what a masterpiece!

  96. M.... ....

I've been listening to this song since high school-30 years ago. Has never grown old. Eric Clapton's guitar work, Waters range and lyrics. So powerful, so poignant.

  97. A.... M....

Few people can do to one's soul what roger does through his art.

  98. T.... C....
