Roger Miller - Dear Heart Lyrics
Dear heart wish you were here to warm this night
Dear heart it seems like a year since you went out of my sight
A single room a table for one it's a lonesome town alright
But soon I'll kiss you hello at our front door
And dear heart I want you to know I'll leave your arms never more

Roger Miller Dear Heart Comments
Is this from a record you own in your collection? Did you rip it straight from the LP?
Good question Turner. Most of youtube is a mixture of stuff. This one I didn’t rip, it was probably ripped long long ago by someone somewhere cuz it’s Roger Miller.
Well thanks for uploading it, I ripped it to my phone, its been one of my favorite songs for months now.
Unfortunately,
the song is
GORGEOUS, but
"dang me, dang
me!!...they aughta take a rope and hang"
the arranger of
this song who
made it so dad-
blamed short!
Only 1:55 seconds! This
was just a tease! Why go
into a recording
studio at all only
to make a disappointingly
brief track! At
least write a nice solo orchestral
bridge to draw
out the tune to
get at least 2:50
minutes of music. This issue is ALWAYS my only complaint
with so many fine performances.
Just cannot understand why
these great God
given talents
themselves cannot look at
the arranger's
score, which is
not set in stone,
and halt the pro
duction right
then and there
by hollering out: "This arrangement
IS TOO DAMN
SHORT!!!"
My favorite version of this
great song, written by Henry Mancini,
Jay Livingston,
and Ray Evans,
is by Jack Jones. If this
arrangement
had been longer,
and had been
beefed-up with
a big "Nashville
violins" string
section, and more out of the
marimba, it would have been OUT OF
THIS WORLD good! Roger Miller was yet
another great
country singer
from Texas, (Houston), and
another great country
singer who died
around age 56,
from lung cancer. Thanks
Brent!
Thanks so much Brent for this sweet beautiful melancholic song........I enjoyed it!!

Like Del and Ferlin, clown one minute, gorgeous ballad singer the next!
yeah, he sure could sing.
graham bull You're right. He was a genius. If you think about it, most comedians, or funny people in general are really serious and sad on the inside. That was my Dr. Phil observation. Lol
