Rod Stewart - Maggie May Lyrics

Wake up Maggie I think I got something to say to you
It's late September and I really should be back at school
I know I keep you amused but I feel I'm being used
Oh Maggie I couldn't have tried any more
You lured me away from home just to save you from being alone
You stole my heart and that's what really hurt

The morning sun when it's in your face really shows your age
But that don't worry me none in my eyes you're everything
I laughed at all of your jokes my love you didn't need to coax
Oh, Maggie I couldn't have tried any more
You lured me away from home, just to save you from being alone
You stole my soul and that's a pain I can do without

All I needed was a friend to lend a guiding hand
But you turned into a lover and
mother what a lover, you wore me out
All you did was wreck my bed
and in the morning kick me in the head
Oh Maggie I couldn't have tried anymore
You lured me away from home 'cause you didn't want to be alone
You stole my heart I couldn't leave you if I tried

I suppose I could collect my books and get on back to school
Or steal my daddy's cue and make a living out of playing pool
Or find myself a rock and roll band that needs a helpin' hand
Oh Maggie I wish I'd never seen your face
You made a first-class fool out of me
But I'm as blind as a fool can be
You stole my heart but I love you anyway

Maggie I wish I'd never seen your face
I'll get on back home one of these days

I had a Maggie. She was a sweet girl who was unbelievable in the sack. The problem was I just didn't love her. I was honest with her from the start but she had kind of a rough time when I walked away. Most everybody knows that a one way relationship is an impossible one. I hope it didn't take long for her to find what she needed.

  68. F.... F....

This song inspired me to take up the mandolin. A classic to say the least!

  69. e.... w....

All the guitar work and even the bass line, was created by Ronnie Woods (of the Stones today). Total guitar genius.

  70. N.... D....

Hmm some people sound like this is a fight

  71. T.... G....

One of the worst singers out absolutely CRAP he has no musical voice or talent croaky frog voice

    T.... G....

    How's your musical career going?

    T.... G....

@Scott Dyson Stupid retort. This type of argument is used only when there is nothing actually good to say about what you are defending.

    T.... G....

@LiberatedMind so I guess you are a lawyer as well now? I'll tell you what is stupid. You saying the things you said about one of the most successful musicians in history. You might not like Rod Stewart, and fair enough, but to knock him the way you did was classless and ignorant. I'm not the biggest Rod Stewart fan, but I would never come on here and insult the man they way you did so childishly. Clearly you just come on here to write ridiculous comments. Rod Stewart could care less about what you think, and neither do I or anyone else so keep your comments to yourself.

    T.... G....

Scott Dyson Scott Dyson Ill tell you stupid, not reading usernames correctly. I didn’t say anything about Rod, Gaffer did, and that’s his opinion.

Your argument is stupid, that was my point. You dont have to have to be good at something in order to hold an opinion on it.

    T.... G....

@LiberatedMind you're right, it's a great idea to come on a forum about Rod Stewart and say that one of the most successful singers of all time has no talent. You'd probably be as equally supportive of some asshole who goes on a forum for Jewish people and writes that Hitler was a nice guy. It would be their opinion after all, wouldn't it be?

  72. M.... M....

am i the only who cries whenever i hear this song?

  73. J.... P....

This is all nice guys National Anthem

    J.... P....

  90. D.... R....

Listening to this for the 1000th time and hearing Ronnie Wood's crazy bass line. He plays bass like it is a lead guitar, which is why I think Mickey Waller lays down that snare and bass drum so heavy as the bass is not rooting the song, but playing a decorative role.

  91. F.... ....

You stole my soul and that's a pain I can do without

  92. A.... M....
