my dad had passed away a music friend gave me a waits tape I cut out my gigs and dates to get away went to eastern ky to college back and forth from Louisville to Richmond ky I listened to tom ole 55 was fitting I learned a bunch of his songs wasn't long I was out of college and booked solid tom helped me get back out there I have a tune titled lately all day which is so much in his style its on you tube too cool!!!

kind of weird. im a bit "estranged" from my grandmother too these days, she's 84 or thereabouts, and we were once very close when i was in my early 20s and my teen years, and i actually tried to get her to listen to Tom Waits once all those years ago. She lost her mind after my grandfather died first, 9 years ago now. I feel bad for her, but it seems impossible to fix now...

When I get a feeling or an emotion that's to difficult for me to express it, I usually find that Tom Waits has found a way to put it in a song. This song reminds me of my childhood home and growing up on a rural route.
