Robinson, Smokey - I'll Try Something New Lyrics

This is my favorite Miracles song. Favorite Motown song period. My wife was not a Miracles or Motown fan, but I would sing along with this song to her. The words in the song describe how I feel about her. She passed in 2017 of a heart attack, and I'll never be happy again. Some people are just meant for one special person.

Never heard another song capable of so effortlessly producing a stupid grin on my face

Just saw the special on Showtime about Motown's history with Berry Gordy and Smokey hosting (Nov. 2019). It was awesome, & showed what a phenomenal organization & music empire Berry built, & later with Smokey as a partner & VP, made Motown into the huge music "hit factory", as it was dubbed. With bringing in the best songwriters: Smokey, Holland Dozier Holland, Ashford & Simpson, etc., the best singers, and the best musicians in Detroit (The Funk Bros.), Berry had created a music monster with the Motown sound, a phenomenom that nobody else could duplicate.
Thanks for the beautiful music that will last forever, Berry, Smokey and the entire Motown Music Family!

I remember listening to this awesome song by The Miracles on the radio as a kid and thought that it sounds so exotic with its Calypso beat; and it made me think of a romantic scene with lovers in a night in Morroco or some farway, exotic place. Smokey was such a musical genius; his songs always bring to mind a special someone and a special place.

Thank you for posting this! My favorite Miracles song! I bought the 45 record back in 1962 and while I no longer have my adolescent fantasies, the magic of this tune definitely holds up!

A great teacher in the writing of down to earth romantic songs. Every line in his verses lead directly to his hooks perfectly. Real clever stuff.

The One and Only Mr. Motown!! Still listening December 2018!!

There is no complete artist like Smokey around today. He does it all, sings beautifully, composes wonderful songs, has an amazing presence, produces music for others and more. I have seen him in concert at least 50 times over my lifetime. Have had the good fortune to get to know him personally through contacts and for the past 30 years usually talk to him backstage before and after shows. Have so many Smokey pictures with my family and myself. He is a national treasure who at age 79 keeps going strong. Love him forever.

I feel so sorry(no diss!) for today’s young music lovers. It’s not that our music is better than theirs, It’s that our times were! Songs are a product of the times they were written in. So imagine what the world was like when this song was written! I was 5 when this song came out and Motown was quickly becoming the hattedt record label out. EVERYBODY LOVED AT LEAST ONE MOTOWN SONG! I loved them all. Love, or the expression of love, was all in the air. Life was sooo simple. Solutions were easier to find. I watched my mom and her friends live such a carefree music filled life. And I did too. Ahh man you had to be there!

July, '62...not ready to "try something new"....but it did happen.... Sept. '63....has made a huge difference since.

This song really takes you to deep when it comes to romance. I was only 13 when this song was popular. But every time I heard it, no matter what I was doing, I would fantasize about the strong, dark and handsome boyfriend I would have when I got a little older dancing, making out, and singing a duet to this song.

A smart romantic love song i feel like hes sarinading me from the window as i look down below now this is a good boyfriend and girlfriend song with out the smut of todays hook up song. All i can say is he is the Micheal Jackson of his time . Hes the Drake and Prince and the Weekend of his time if it weren't for him there be no pop songs are even a Motown to think of to begin with so thank you for all of your contributions to the Motown sound and todays new artist that are trying to imitate you.
