Robin Trower - Maybe I Can Be A Friend Lyrics
Lift your face to the warming of the sun
No other world could be ours
Forget the play on words ill used by everyone
That draw us in to their wasted hours
We could turn toward the coming rise
Or drift on back into a life of ease
Your thoughts and mine, thrown up into the sky
To float like blossom in the breeze
And maybe I could be a friend
Through this time into another time
And not to wish for any more
We will learn the days we must complete
And when to let them go their own way
Break right through the surface of deceit
Out into fields of silver wing at play
And maybe I could be a friend
Maybe I could be a friend

Robin Trower Maybe I Can Be A Friend Comments
You can talk about Gary Moore tone, talk about Eric Clapton tone or Stevie Ray Vaughn tone. But, nobody and I mean nobody comes close to that Robin Trower Fender Strat tone.
Waited for ever to give this tune a listen, if the sea was glass and the land all gone I would still be a friend. Thank you sir Robin Trower power
that was great.
soul to the bone
he can do it all.And still does.
of course
With all the justified praise for the brilliant Robin, let’s not forget the equally soulful Davey Pattison. Wonderful singer.
Only thing missing is the Uni Vibe and Over Drive , Sustain
Nothing but heart and soul in every note...
Who dislikes this ? They should be on another channel
MMmm....I have to recover from that a bit...well, I think outside of classical, nothing cuts as deep. His strings are like the sharpest blades into your soul.
Robin where do your melodies come from ?
I'm a 50 yr blues guy. Robin is rock with much blues influence. BUT..He is one of the greatest songwriters I have ever heard.
Same here! Been playing and listening to the blues since late sixties, and Trower is definitely one of the best, never got accolades he deserves
I totally liked this song and the guitar in it was awesome.
The Chords, awesome Strato action, he is hitting a musical sound frequency that many relate too. So inspired by his leads.
There is no other more original than the legend that is Robin Trower....
This is my favourite studio RT of them all.
Beautiful song from a great album .
Incredibly good album, discovered it just a few days ago, and I'm literally speechless. Came here to share it on FB so others can get some magic of RT to.o
came across this by accident after hearing new trower stuff(released last year), this...is such a great tune. love expanding on tunes by him and leslie west I never heard of before..and that radio will never ever play.
Great vintage Strato bending by the soul who is quite probably the most genious at it. I have watched him since 74 & Never a gob stone. Always a strat graced his palms. And he Does thank his audience. I found that to beso in 92. When I heard he had food poisoning, I sent him a bottle of VSOP & a best wishes & prayers note. He still has the note today!
This guy has so much talent and soul. He makes the guitar sing.
Anyone who calls themself a guitar player HAS to have Trower on their playlist.
Listen to the soulful sounds come forth from his Fender. It is mind-blowing.
I have listened to his music for 37 years. It is timeless.
The King of Ethereal Guitar, for those who can hear it. Sincerely great stuff.
+Bill Nastali "The King of Ethereal Guitar" ..... nicely put, Bill - quite fitting.
I also liked, "for those who can hear it." Indeed!
+starchildstrider Sweet! Thanks much for your reply.
@Bill Nastali
You bet!
Nicely done!
Robin, peas and rice. If I wanted to fall asleep Id listen to crying in my beer crap.. Come on man pick it up. This sucks
listen to trower NOW! he put out a new cd last year.
what do you expect from an alabaman that plays with insects. go back to your hic-hop, troll
when the hater can play guitar as a 70 year old. he can come back and talk.
I'm in Alabama, been to 12 Robin Trower concerts, I love this and every thing he does. Where you are don't make what you are.
Barry Oneal You got THAT right! If it weren't so, A LOT of us would be in trouble, myself included! 😆🎸🎷🎵♩🎼🎶🎧♩ROCK ON, ROBIN!!!♩🎸🎵🎸❗🎵♩
Introduced to Trower by a man I love dearly but has left me after 24 years and now the sound fit even more, blues for me!! We went to a concert in our beginning(1988) and I fell asleep on his shoulder listening to the music( standing up).Great sound!
I hope you're doing better these days. Trower-on Nancy!
Nancy Skellie so sorry to hear that. Relationships fade but Robin’s music lives on forever.
His music takes you to another place....a beautiful song , and such passion in his soulful playing. does it for me
The Playful Heart is the best album Robin has ever made even surpassing the excellent Bridge of Sighs.
I love Robin Trower! I saw him in the mountains in Co. back in 78 or 79. What.an amazing guitarist even as a kid!
right !
Such a master piece, this is beautiful. Robin, when will they put you in The Hall Of Fame? Your music is a big part of my life, and for my brother who turned me into a fan, he is not with us anymore so here Bob remember all the time's we listen to this man's music together and just was blown away.
Layla LinQuinto your brother is always with you listening to this song always...
Robin Trower's guitar work always seems to be speaking other language to me and that's something that i will never forget :-D
Pleasant and perfect. When will you ever get the credit you do deservedly should have all these years. I love it that you have always kept going with your ever changing beautiful, touching and moving me to the core music. You were a big part of changing my life in early 70's. I thank you.
