Robin Trower - In City Dreams Lyrics

In city dreams
down in the dirt a candy wrapper.
The pretty ladies, on parade, with flashing eyes
they come on smiling.

In city dreams
when neon lights commence to shining.
The streetwise kids could steal your soul
and sell it to you on the corner.

In city dreams
In city dreams
In city dreams
In city dreams

The night's ablaze
the city burns from red to amber.
The sidewalk circus floating by
a crowd of bright eyed empty faces.
They're playing the game
this game of magical illusion.
That leaves you wondering
if you really have arrived
or are only dreaming.

In city dreams
In city dreams
In city dreams

In city dreams
down in the streets the dawn is breaking.
And you're still wondering
if you really have arrived
or are only dreaming

In city dreams
In city dreams
In city dreams
In city dreams

Robin trower forever forever robin trower; a viagem, felling, espaco ciferal, o timbre da stratocaster a magia. Sinergia para a mente, os anos passam e sua musica continua attemporal e fazendo minha cabeca.

  12. W.... o....

This is not In City Dreams!

  13. B.... ....

Perfect from start to finish. God that was talent. Keep on Rocking Robin. Miss you JD!

  14. m.... e....

love the vinyl pop, snap.......saw him front row in '77 . got a drum stick after the 2nd encore...... great band

  15. C.... ....

Quite possibly the greatest guitarist of all time. Back in the day, I once traded Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti album for Robin Trower’s Bridge of Sigh’s. Enough said.

  16. m.... s....

What a treat, vinyl! For those kids who hear an occasional pop, this is vinyl (an analog record) playing on a turntable.... sounds perty good, huh?

  17. M.... L....

    Fine gutiar playing

  18. M.... L....

    This is so nice

  19. G.... W....

Sounds even better today, yes sir, salute to a world class cast of badass...Trower Power!

  20. j.... k....

we are going to see him tonite at the bourbon

  21. L.... J....

Sorry to say because I love Trower this album is not mixed very well the drum sound really flat, pretty much the whole thing sounds boxed in!

  22. R.... T....

    🍻 🤘HeyNow ! ! ! WaTzUp ! ! ! ✌❤& Rock&Roll,,,Baby ! ! ! 😎

  23. U.... H....

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME! Everything Robin has done especially his stellar years with the immortal James Dewar are brilliant!!

  24. T.... S....

RIP James Dewar. Scottish Man of Soul vocals.

    T.... S....

Sadly he had lost his son just before he passed. his wife died a couple of years later. They are all buried together. The man was part of a magic era.

    T.... S....

Robins' guitar and James' voice made them one of the best sounds of the 70s, shame he was taken prematurely, a vocalist to rank alongside Frankie Miller. Peace.

  25. T.... P....

Damn, I'm so envious of you having all of this Trower on vinyl! Thanks for sharing your amazing collection with us!

  26. M.... E....

Sorely missed... Loved this album from it's original release date and continue to love it forever. Ditto on 'paul younger's comment, Robin is ROBIN, NOT JIMI HENDRIX!

  27. V.... H....

We’re getting ready to lose Robin Trower😭😢😭😢

    V.... H....

    What happened????

    V.... H....

    @Josh R. he's getting old

  28. B.... N....

LOVE this with all my heart! DeWar what a voice.

  29. J.... H....

Sweet wine of love song reminds me of my time in college and a certain beautiful young lady...

  30. j.... ....

Somebody Calling is simply beautiful. Dewar's bass riffs keep your heart pounding while Trower's reverb drills holes in your skull. Then Dewar's vocals come in and freeze your ears. How can anybody not love this song?

    j.... ....

jok99teez Actually this LP and Confessing Midnight feature Rustee Allen on bass. I believe that is partly why Dewar sounds so soulful here since he focuses solely on singing.

  31. J.... W....

    Love this album!

  32. I.... B....

Three man bands are the best...do the math and you will see.

  33. l.... a....

I 've heard him called The Ghost of Jimi Hendrix Live!

  34. T.... D....

I got to see trowers with bridge of sighs ,victims of the fury ,a true master of riffs

  35. C.... J....

Most Beautiful, Amazing expression of guitar I have ever heard. From sweet to fiery...Robin is Epic. Thanks Robin 💗🔥

  36. M.... J....

  37. E.... D....

This band (has) monetary value! I'm sold!

  38. o.... ....

    " Falling Star".... excellent track....

  39. M.... B....

    It's rock, it's soul, it's a Stratocaster

    🤘

  40. F.... ....

    James Dewar . . . . what a talent!

    F.... ....

    I agree & blues voice 🎤 bass man too✌

  41. T.... ....

Jimmy is so versatile. The first time I heard Bluebird couldn't believe that was him singing. So used to that rich earthy tenor that's featured on so many Trower songs....

  42. g.... f....

    3 favorites....the album covers....the music....the band....
long misty days....in city dreams....caravan to midnight....
    memories of the 70's....

  44. H.... S....

    LSD friendly

  45. J.... P....

In city dreams is one of the most unique trower albums. It really stands on its own as far as a piece of work. Get a cocktail and blast this one in the sunshine. You will feel so good

  46. J.... P....

I have heard no comments about the title track. Sweetness with a bass candy and some of the sticky sweet and smooth vocals you'll ever hear

    J.... P....

The title track is my favourite and you described it _perfectly._

  47. J.... P....

This is actually my favorite album by Robin Trower because Jazz layers and sharp notes. Vocals are so silky. This is sipping cocktails on a Saturday afternoon music. It's all good. Praise God.

  48. P.... M....

Super sensitive head rock. I use to clean my Coast Guard barracks room before inspections to Robin Trower. His music is such a memory trigger as all good music is...well except current attempts at creating music and I consider my tastes on the eclectic side. I can jam to everything from Paul Whiteman rag to Culture Club but I can find nothing enjoyable about today’s music. I’d rather think it’s laziness in writers than my cynicism due to age.

    P.... M....

Peter Montroy Thanks for your service. Hope you maxed your inspections! (Retired US Army)

  49. M.... L....

  60. j.... E....

I Wonder if Robin n Co, partied with Jimi back in the day.. this is the kind of music to listen to when
you're just chilin.. Just clear the mind...

    j.... E....

jfelect4 Edwardo Dude Robin was jimi's
Understudies for a while !!! Can you feel it ???

    j.... E....

Procol Harum opened for Hendrix on their (Procol’s) first British tour in 1967 so it’s more than possible.

  61. H.... T....

OMG, is sweet wine of love the most perfect song ever?

  62. J.... ....

Only Trower disc I don't listen to. Heard it right when it came out - we were VERY into RT's stuff - but it sounded "off" somehow. HA that's not why tho - I was listening to it when I got dumped. So ICD will always be remembered clearly, if not fondly. ;-)

  63. j.... h....

  68. M.... D....

Some Trower fans had trouble with the poppier late 80’s Trower...While not Bridge of Sighs I appreciate the attempt to reach a different audience. Still some masterfull string bending going on

    M.... D....

    80's ruined music.

    M.... D....

This is and remains my all time favorite by Trower.

    M.... D....

  72. C.... R....

Bought this wonderful album for $2 today.

    C.... R....

    nice score!

    C.... R....

D u H you had to once you heard it

    C.... R....

Star Trek Central Ain’t it great when you come across a gem like that! I bought In the Court Of the Crimson King for $1 at a garage sale. And not a serious defect on it.

  73. p.... y....

Robin Trower is not a Hendrix imitator ...He has a character that is entirely his own !

    p.... y....

it was eric clapton that originated the 'incendiary guitar' style owing much to then new advancements in guitar and amp technology this was before hendrix.... so what every guitarist has unique sonic signatures that only a moron could confuse.... yes definitely robin trower has his extremely apparent styles and methods... and introverted stage performer personae

    p.... y....

Some people called him the "white Jimi Hendrix" I call him Robin Trower.

    p.... y....

    Robin Trower had a very deep respect for Jimi Hendrix * at Jimi Hendrixes last concert before he supposedly died * Robin Trower was coming on with Procal Harum and later after all had been said and done Robin Trower remarked ;
" I always wanted to talk to Jimi "
" but I dont think that would "
    " have been a good time "

    p.... y....

of course there was Stevie Ray Vaughn

  74. R.... K....

I bought this album in a bargain bin in the 70's....What a gem.........seen him live twice....amazing

    R.... K....

Bought the vinyl first week it came out.
That said, always been something about it leaves me uncomfortable listening to it.
Cover so much inferior to ones preceding (which were all as good as the music imho); and the songs leave me ... stranded, for lack of a better description. Alway's love the guy tho and Jimmy Dewar too, of course.

  75. P.... D....

Personally, for me, as an album goes, with the exception of one track, this is the nicest complete Albums from Robin Trower! Heavy it is not; it's a rather gentle, easy listening album. Just love this Album. Well done Robin.

    P.... D....

The holy grail is still the first three albums: Twice Removed From Yesterday, Bridge Of Sighs and For Earth Below
That being said, this is still a gem....

    P.... D....

further on up the road -- pure British blues / i'll take Trower over Clapton any day (my all time favorite, however, is Johnny Winter.

    P.... D....

It got killed by fans and reviewers that said it was disco like because of the beat.. lol

    P.... D....

    @Thundergod129-7307
I'm gonna go with Long Misty Days
    somewhere in there.

    P.... D....

@Dan BartkoI saw Robin a few years ago and he opened with the song In City Dreams. It was an EPIC concert....

  76. S.... C....

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!

    S.... C....

Robin Trower along with Jethro Tull would be a great class that is lonf over due for induction. Oops wait- Joan Jett and Janet Jackson contributed much more the those two hooligans ever did

    S.... C....

Robin should get in twice. For Procul Harum and for his solo work.

    S.... C....

    Got some Frank Marino?

    S.... C....

    @Jesse Pruitt
    Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush.
Saw him in 1978 and 2006. Incredible talent!

    S.... C....

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME is a joke or else Judas Priest would have been in long ago.

  77. R.... S....

    Tks THIS IS MUSIC!!!!

  78. T.... T....

  79. m.... s....

Many thanks for posting this album. I was a teen in the 70s, Robin Trower was always playing in my car. I bought all his albums, including this one. I agree it is very mellow, and I used to turn up the volume on my home stereo and fall to sleep with it. Still a favorite of mine!

    m.... s....

we used to play the FM radio in early 70"s we never could get Robin in the car.

    m.... s....

I had him on a cassette, I could never get him on any radio play either.

    m.... s....

    me too im 58

    m.... s....

Bought a '72 Duster in'79 came with an 8track:) For Earth Below;) guess you had to be there?!!! =)
