Robin Trower - Bridge Of Sighs Lyrics
The sun don't shine
The moon don't move the tides,
To wash me clean
The sun don't shine
To wash me clean
Why so unforgiving, and why so cold
Been a long time crossing Bridge of Sighs
Cold wind blows
The Gods look down in anger,
On this poor child
Cold wind blows
And Gods look down in anger,
Why so unforgiving and why so cold
Been a long time crossing Bridge of Sighs

Robin Trower Bridge Of Sighs Comments
Robin is a classic
This just made my acid trip ten times better. I could see the music coming out of the speakers. I was so absorbed, I couldn’t bang my girlfriend.
love this band. I hope everyone knows that the 'Bridge of Sighs' is a real monument in Venice Italy. I seen it back in the eighties when I was stationed there. "Been a long time crossing" - it was a prison.
Fuck yes.
They don't credit this band as an influence, but you can hear echoes of this band in Soundgarden. Everything circles: fashion, music..
Fkn epic! The white Jimi Hendrix
Still have the ticket stubs from MSG concerts in 70s..what a show
That was an amazingly good performance....not studio corrected, but live
This is just DOPE.
The hazy memories this brings back. Great times with great old friends!
/generationX
Trower was awesome! ALWAYS used TONS of Chorus effect on his guitar and typically utilized the neck pickup for a majority of his solos.
Wow!, this is heavier than Doom Metal. That guitar and that voice are awesome!
Totally righteous performance.
Great!!
The underground Pub scene during the era was slow to released to the public. Eventually, though, everything old is new again if you live long enough.
Seen Tower many times just got my ticket to see him 2020 UK. The guy is brilliant you might say l'm a fan.
...one of my late mom's faves...and, mine, too...
Day on the green 1975 ish ,Oakland CA. First time hearing Trower . Cant even describe the coolness of it all. Been a fan every since
Smooth as a glass of whiskey
Trower is a mystical performer. Talent on a supernatural level. And this song is one of the greatest in rock and roll history. Simply EXTRAORDINARY.
When this album came out I had just bought Trower's first album and was already into him but this album.... Genius.... slow, bluesy, extra heavy done right on this song
One of the trippiest songs ever!
Ponte de sospiri. Last still above water. Der _ist_ keine warum. [ALGORITHM]
Hello.Goodbye.
HALLOWED BE THY NAME🕆
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G talented Robin Trower.
fabulous and underrated. saw him one time mid 80s. 20th Century Blues is a great album
Paul Rodgers is a poor man's James Dewar.
Shows speed is not all its cracked up to be
Speed is not the greatest attribute to being a great guitarist ....
Wow, wow, wow... a song that faded in my mind now comes back to life and in such pristine condition. Massive.
Saw Trower in Portland OR in the 70s. Didn't have a clue what this song was about. Now I can Google the meaning of it. I'm too old for this.......
It;s like playing in slow motion.
Saw them at the Jacksonville Coliseum the same year this came out. No lasers. No fireworks. Just these three guys with a wall of speakers and me standing right in front of the stage. Still the best concert I've ever experienced. A couple of years later I was in the Navy and found myself in Venice, where my mates and I burned a fatty on the actual Bridge Of Sighs. Its the little things in life, folks. :)
Chilling all over.....
Dewar=Paul Rodgers?
One of the great power trios-under appreciated.
I used to have this album, sold it when I sold all me vinyl. 200 albums £40.
Love the way they just stand there and don"t jump around like bitches.......
I concur with Robin. The Strat is the world's most versatile guitar.
Please pass on that Hashish😉😀😀😀😀😳😳😳😳
Brilliant
Was driving a 1970 Lincoln Mark III up Coal Creek Canyon playing this on ten one afternoon after work when I was T-Boned by a 3/4 ton dodge pick up. saw it coming and knew my legs were going to be pinned under the bridgework. He went through the windshield and ended up in an ambulance headed back down the canyon. I got out the passenger door, wandered around to the driver side to see it was totally demolished bumper to bumper, and standing there in a daze realized I was still listening to Bridge Of Sighs from inside the car. Great Song - Great car. Knew at that moment I would live forever.
I actually discovered TROWER walking down the road one day and found an eight track tape and it was BRIDGE OF SIGHS 👍😆LUCKY ME 😆👍
Robin Trower sounds a lot like John Kay of Steppenwolf
previous comment says about 98% of what it's about I think also...This is one of the reasons I appreciate him more now then decades ago...first I saw someone very influenced by a specific tonal spectrum of some Hendrix stuff....maybe there was something to that...but what great player does not owe some debt to Hendrix....derailed...I see now,,,after decades of endlessly trying get better at electric guitar....how terrific this guy was and is....The more you really seriously dig into the challenges of the electric....the more you appreciate why great players actually should be called great...and as a corollary to slow down and focus on the melody and architecture etc....no one works harder or with more dedication then the amazing players like Robin Trower....Even the rare guys blessed with the music DNA are the very ones who work their asses off the most
one of a kind!
Just saved it to my music folder
Off the bat
Alot of people like Hendrix, but I feel Trower was the best .
My favorite song !!! What a great guitarist !!! The kind of music only badass people can appreciate .
I'm a product of the 1970's and I'm still there when it comes to this old School Rock and roll ! Robin Trower Rule's 7/1962 kiddo😎
anybody get the EQ settings of that Marshall?
Sounds very much like the album version. Well done for a 3 piece band.
Life can get pretty dark for anyone but some people are truly born into a life of constant sorrow and suffering. They never experience the love of family and the joys of childhood, they know only abuse, exploitation and violence until their death. It hurts to call these poor souls to mind and so most of us rarely do. They're being born to drug-addicted women, or in chaotic undeveloped hellholes, or coming to life in the grips of some gruesome disease. In my opinion this song is for them, and if you feel moved maybe say a prayer or just share their pain for a moment before moving on.

LSD thats all I have to say.
Too many people compared him to Jimi....but he was and is a great guitarist in his own right. Robin Trower live was it for me.
No words for this classic
Some of the greatest guitar playing in the history or mankind!
Started at 14 and still listening to it today at 57, will never stop.......
Saw Robin Trower at house of blues in Houston several years ago. The mix was terrible, couldn’t hear the vocals. Walked out halfway thru the show, it was that bad.
I don't believe in perfection.. but this is as close as it comes...
I have heard Trower's attempts at singing. It was bad. There is no debate that Trower is best expressed in his guitar playing. The man, the bassist, that sang this song, was forgotten by the publishers and media. That's fucked up. Who is he?
Mescaline, Columbia gold and Bridge of Sighs by candle light. Time ceases to exist. The whole of the universe becomes a playground for the mind. Yeah, I remember this tune.
Mmmm luv this !
this guys voice is pure gold, fits trowers music perfectly

I saw Robin in Chicago. My buddy's Brother gave us the tickets. One of the best concerts. Excellent. Late 70's before I joined the Army.
Who is your favorite, and why, Robin Trower or Stevie Ray Vaughn ???
Robin & Eric c
You don't want it to end!!! That is the quintessential groove!
Been awhile Robin almost forgot how great you are.💫
Aahhh, Robin Trower. My favorite guitarist of all time.
Reg Isador and James Dewar do not get the credit they deserve. Both gone now. RIP
Classic
I know where Dead Meadow gets their sound.
Gives me goose bumps .....love it!!!
Robin Trower looks like an old Matilda
riff sounds like Rush.. necromancer..from 70's
I remember the first time I heard this song. It was a Friday night in the place we all gathered to party, which we appropriately named "God's Country". The stereo it was playing on was loud enough for it to echo in the valley we were in. The 70's were good times indeed.
The mid-70's were fantastic. You were no longer worrying about being drafted into the war but the hippy life was still going strong. Then came Disco and by 1980 hippiedom was dead.
The drummer chewing gum....just doing his thing and so cool!
This has blown me away, that fellas voice is smoother than my grandmother's gravy and that guitar ffs....effortless
Talk about underrated guitar players. Robin Trower is incredibly talented.
Rock religion...just walk toward the light. If God had a Band, these guys would be it.
I was just a kid. Older brother turned me on to this. My dad had been back from Nam for a few years.. He was never the same.. Agent Orange killed him in the end.. Cancer. Pancreatic. Quick..Like a bullet..
a truly under rated blues master.
I tell every rock fan under the age of 30 about trower and how if they want to hear the best guitarists and vocalist in rock listen to the bridge of sighs album.
Still great...as ever!
When Trower is inducted to the Rock Hall of Fame, then, and only then, will it be a legitimate institution. RIP Jimmy and Reg
Perfect blend .
What happened to this video? It's like half the song.
I wonder how Robin feels about being known worldwide primarily for ONE song, this one.
Don't get me wrong, it's a mighty fine tune...and yes, James Dewar's voice is perfect for it.
Saw Trower play 3 times. Just WOW............
Stop whining about today's music -- because as long as we have YouTube this is STILL "today's music," as well as tomorrow and all the days after.
I want this played at my funeral, very very loud, by a live band, as my coffin slowly slides into the incinerator.
@joseph migliore you are soft flllll
@joseph migliore you are not your Grand parents . you have no idea how about Rock roll. MAGA
david blair I have a tremendous knowledge of Rock and Roll. My grandparents didn’t. MAGA!
Mike Hadlow Watermelon in Easterhay....
your coffin is a cardboard box, so they have to push it in FAST.
Got all you beat... I was 16 in Germany me and some friend's took a bus loaded with G.I."s to Darmstadt to see Trower with the warm up band (well they wanted to see wuz Thin Lizzie jailbreak tour. Talk about kickass concert. The bus ride was just as cool , we 3 had 50 bad ass dudes watching our back show nuff!
I was very fortunate to live in UK in the late 60's. You missed the music back then.
One of my dad's favorite songs to rock on his guitar
Trippy vibes. I love the 70s rock age idk how I'm just now finding this. Definantely going in the acid playlist🍄
🎵🎶Thank You, GGH.💓
