Robert Plant - Too Loud Lyrics

It's in the elevator - you can hear it in the hall
It's where you didn't want it - it's coming through the wall
Sneakin' in the bathroom, powdering your nose
Creeping in the johnny when you thought it didn't know
'Cause you're too loud, too loud, too loud
Yes you're too loud, too loud, too loud

Smile across the front page - watch the cover spread
Vanity's the video - an epic in your bed
Coke files, profiles - Johnny's in a spin
In the name of entertainment on the show that never ends
'Cause you're too loud, too loud, too loud
Yes you're too loud, too loud, too loud

Talk to them, Victor
(This time - that's right now)
(Hold tightly - that's right now)

Staring at the ceiling - tired of counting sheep
Alone with indiscretion it's impossible to sleep
Rings on your fingers - bells on your toes
You're never there without it if you're ever there at all
'Cause you're too loud, too loud, too loud
Yes you're too loud, too loud, too loud

That's right now [followed by a spoken run-out]

    Talk to them Victor.....

This is quirky and the vibe sounds like a precursor to David Bowie's I'm Afraid Of Americans, which is kickass BTW. Always liked Plant's solo work - all of it

    P.... M....

Yep I hear that, especially in the beginning

    P.... M....

Earthling was one of the best things David Bowie ever did (IMO)

On Robert's new podcast, he talked about how radio stations didn't want to play this. I got the cassette as a radio promotion when it came out (one of those deals where you call the 800 # and they gave a cassette away every minute for 24 hours) and this was one of my favorite songs! For YEARS later I would say, "Talk to me Victor, talk to me Victor!" to people when they would stumble over their words. Heh.

And this is probably why this upload is now getting almost 2,000 views a day now. I looked at the analytics and thought, how the hell has this obscure song started getting that many views. It can't be Zeppelin fans who now like it, cuz I don't see that ever happening. All I knew was, if radio wasn't going to play it, I'd put it on repeat. I loved this song.

@DrTomoculus Agreed. That said, I did watch this video a month or two ago, because Shaken & Stirred wasn't on Amazon Music. I only ever had this album on cassette, a promo I got from a radio contest.

Lol , Talk to me Victor . I would say that and people would say " WHAT "

This is, by far, my favorite Plant album. Odd, super rhythmic, and just wonderful. Wish I'd been the drummer in the session. Had to be rad.

At first I thought "This isn't too bad..." but as it goes on it gets pretty weird.

Robert Plant nos dá essa merda enquanto Jimmy Page e John Paul Jones estão por ae soltos,,,,

  9. Q.... ....

Crappy vinyl with every pop and hiss encoded at a high rate. Madness.

    Q.... ....

hahahahahahahaha...I normally hate vinyl but this sounds great.

  10. H.... H....

    Don’t undersand the buzz

    Love this album

This whole album is so damned good and I haven't heard it in nearly 30 years. Living right on the Strand in Hermosa Beach as a young single guy, riding my BMW motorcycle around, and listening to Shaken 'n Stirred on cassette in my Ford Ranger. Great memories!

  12. M.... ....

The best the first two for me

This is a fun little oddball of a song that I fell in love with the first time I heard it, played live on stage (it's not like it got any radio play!) in Hampton, VA, USA. Thank God artists play with their medium now and zen--er, then. "Absolutely nothing to do with anything at all to do with...this..."

    J.... M....

If ever I did run into Robert Plant, I do believe the first thing I would say to him is "rings on your fingers, bells on your toes." I might just leave it right there and say no more.

    J.... M....

@DrTomoculus "You're never there without it, if you're ever there at all...Talk to me, Victor!"

    J.... M....

Jennifer Mixson "Talk to me Victor, talk to me Victor".😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

It was great to see live, Austin frank Erwin center. But he also did honey droppers. Almost 3 full hours nothing but plant fantastic concert!

Sounds crispy and sharp...but really to do all that with analog sound and save it/hear it over digital somehow defeats the purpose, no?

    S.... C....

In a way you're right. With 24 bit being the format, despite YouTube's processing, the digital representation of these analog sources does do it some justice. It is getting somewhat what Vinyl is telling it. It's partly why I search out early manufactured CD's which were AAD mastered, even though it's 16 bit. Analog recording, analog mixing, digital transfer. Those CDs are about as close as you can get to what the LP sounded like. With what I do with those CD's is bring back those deleted/obsolete/discarded frequencies that get lost in the transfer/production, and add some more if possible, to try and get it as close to what that Vinyl LP said that recording sounded like. I make those 24 bit as well when finalised so that what I've added has a chance to be as fully represented as possible.

I go WAV rather than FLAC in that representation, because FLAC has a tendency (in layman's terms) of saying "oh I see what you're doing there. I'm going to replicate that, and because what you're doing is so strong, I may even emphasise it more in my finalised form than what you intended." Whereas WAV says, "well ok, I see what you're doing, and some of those things I'm not sure about, but what I'll do is give you a balanced representation of it. I'll do my best to get everything you're saying, but it might come out a little bit less than what you intended."

I work with 24 bit WAV, because that's what I need after adding 3 layers of EQ to make drum kits sound like a drum kit. Or a guitar part to have crunch as intended. The WAV "I'll do my best" actually is a pretty good representation of what I do and upload. With time I could probably get to grips with FLAC's tendencies to over-represent (it really goes strong in the lower frequencies) but in my mind it would mean a totally different technique to accommodate that "chaos theory" that FLAC operates to. So I go WAV simply because it works, and if it works, go with it.

The digital version of Vinyl LP's can come close, but to actually get what Vinyl LP "gets" in some other format that that media, you'd need a new media. If you get me.
