Robert Palmer - Say You Will Lyrics

Say you will, say you will
Please surrender to me
Say you will, say you will

Please say that I can take you this moment
Please say you'll let me take you for my wife
Our love will grow tonight if you will
Give me your answer, give me your answer

You will honour and obey me
I will love and cherish you
For poor or richer, darling
Forsaking everyone but you

Say you will, say you will
Please surrender to me
Say you will, say you will

Our love will grow tonight if you will
Give me your answer, give me your answer
With this body I thee worship
Let them forever hold their peace
For worse or for better darling
Only unto you as long as you may live

I will love and comfort you, yeah
If you only say that you will
Take me illegal or lawful
To have and to hold from this day forward

Please surrender to me
Say you will, say you will
Give me your answer, give me your answer
Please say that I can take you this moment
Please say that I can trust you tonight

Please surrender to me
Say you will, say you will
Give me your answer, give me your answer

  7. Brack

I just realized the one line is "Let's come into this bliss, make a wish with this kiss" - I hadn't listened to this in a while - always great to hear RP...

  8. Laura Kenney

Robert shines in these slow, romantic songs. he makes you believe in love 💝

    Maria Ayala

    Oh yes!!

  9. Brack

Never heard this song before - thanks for posting!  I think the lines are "making wishes your love will last forever" and then later "let's come into this place, make a wish with this kiss".  My college roommate had a "Heavy Nova" tape, and that's how I became a fan.  There is also a lesser viewed video on youtube of him working on Gershwin's "I Got Rhythm" that is great to watch.  What a fantastic musician with a distinctive one-of-a-kind voice - miss Robert!!!  RIP

    aplantagereloaded

+Brack Thank you so much for pointing out the "making of" vid of "I Got Ryhthm". Hadn't seen that yet either, and it's wonderful. Shows what a great musician he was in general, not just as a singer.

    Brack

+aplantagereloaded  Agree completely!  I've found his last album "Drive" to be amazing (esp. like "Lucky") - he left us a great body of work, but we lost him way too soon.

  10. Carleen Sova

  18. keith brown

Robert was born in 1949, so you should check your Arithmetic and then amend your post. He was 54 years of age.

  19. Boxerpaws Sarver

i think it's partly because we didn't know what we had while he was here. and now we wish we had.Maybe it's like making up for lost time?

  20. Lance Finley

  21. Cathye Graham

    I just love this song!!!

  22. avalisme

I believe it's because it was unexpected and sudden. Also the fact that he was only 56, it's a shock any way you cut it. This is why people still talk about it. Also, a great sense of loss that he left us. It's as though you don't quite believe it, but it is so.

    Skygazer

avalisme. Robert was 54 when he died. just saying...

  23. Mark Guest

Wow this is a rarity. Thanks for sharing this. Do you think this one of the tracks he was told to cut from "Drive" album?

  24. MrVampiredog
