Good.......but The Clash IT IS NOT!
It isn't Toots or The Specials, either.
Toots is good. Specials and The Clash... Wank. And I like the bands.
Few people can do Toots some justice. Palmer absolutely crushed it in the 70s
@colin wright at the point when you said I needed ear drops or a better stereo, and Palmer DEFINES pale and soul free, almost as much as Bolton. Look at his work I the 80s which is honestly when I first encountered him.
@colin wright beyond that everyone in this thread is contending Palmer's version is better than the original, the idea you don't think that and are participating is ridiculous
Really? You know that do you? Absolutely clueless,. Palmer covered this in a manner that was in keeping with the great of the album. Little Feat and The Meters as backing, the guy was a level above most at that time. So my enjoyment of his version is in the context of the album. Now if we look at another reggae classic "Johnny Too Bad", you will, no doubt rubbish every version other than The Slickers, is pale. I suppose we will have to bow down to your superiority.
@colin wright sorry my respect for the artistic brilliance of Robert Palmer is lacking. As to The Meters, I'll listen to their records, not them playing backup to a hack like Palmer because his money was available, and they needed it because of people like you that buy this rubbish, and not good records like the Meters have produced throughout their careers.
You can certainly bow to my superiority, I'll take that as a compliment.
The Robert Palmer, that's all you. I'll take Toots, and other actual Jamaicans, and if I want to listen to the Meters, I'll listen to them on their own.
I'm just not as "addicted to love" as you are.
