Robert Earl Keen - Love's A Word I Never Throw Around Lyrics

I guess we've come full circle
We're strangers once again
It's hard to know we'd ever come to this
It's funny you were saying how you'd miss
The good ole times
While all alone I'm thinking
You're the one I'll miss

Love's a word I never throw around
So when I say I love you till the end
I'm talking about till the day they toss me in the ground
Love's a word I never throw around

I'd like to think you're leaving
Because I've treated you unkind
But maybe you've found somebody new
Hell, I know the only reason you're leaving me behind
Is you're no longer feeling the way I feel for you

Love's a word I never throw around
So when I say I love you till the end
I'm talking about till the day they toss me in the ground
Love's a word I never throw around

So I'm going to the country
To spend some time out in the woods
Countin' stars and sleepin' all alone
I can't say for certain that It'll do me any good
But it's time I grew accustomed to being on my own

Love's a word I never throw around
So when I say I love you till the end
I'm talking about till the day they toss me in the ground
Love's a word I never throw around

    REK is the BEST !!!

Man...heard this for the first time last night when REK played with Lyle Lovett at the Birchmere. Brought me to tears. Went looking for it today and say this handsome, trim troubadour version. I only got into REK when he was in his late fifties, graying, like me. I get why he is an icon in Texas. Only wish FM radio (outside of Texas) didn't suck. Beautiful song.

  3. K.... C....

This song is such a blast to fingerpick on guitar! It's been years since I've seen REK in concert, I need to remedy that soon.

  4. M.... ....

I believe this is the best love song ever written.

  5. G.... G....

I went and seen and even got to converse with REK a couple days after my momma died. He reminds me of her alot in the way of being kind, intuitive and funny. I've seen him many times now. He's by far my favorite songwriter next to Dylan.

  6. M.... C....

What a wonderful, sad song. Have always loved this one.

  7. L.... ....

IMO, this song rivals ANYTHING Jim Croce ever put out...

  8. S.... S....

Antonio, your english is better than a lot of native speaker's that I see on the internet!

  9. A.... m....

i'm a mexican and my poor rusty english i know is because of REK songs i started to listen to his songs back in 95 i did not understand a word but i studied the lyrics because i love his music and helped me a lot to learn english

    Robert Earl is the man.

  11. d.... ....

this has always been one of my favorite songs, little song on the end of the CD, thanks for posting

  12. M.... M....

i saw him eating at a resteraunt called herberts i was siting right next to him but i didnt say anything

Jonathan Yudkin's fiddle work is very smooth -- well blended behind vocals, solo ramps up and back down nicely.

He was also credited for violin on Kathy Mattea's "Lonesome Standard Time." Wish I could find a live or studio performance of that to see his fingering after the "crying fiddle" lyric.

Well, many of the guys managed to graduate, though my transcript reflects their bad influence on me. We went to the Chicken, I even worked for Don and Donny, but we mostly hung out at Grins.

  15. B.... B....

I heard REK jr. many times back about '77 / '78. I would be walking down Boyette and hear the music playing on the Church street front porch- did they ever go to class? Or to the 'Chicken' for that matter.....
