Robert Cray - The Forecast (Calls For Pain) Lyrics
Coffee for my breakfast
Shot of whiskey on the side
It's a dark and dreary morning
With the clouds covering up the sky
The forecast calls for pain
My baby's turning cold
And the forecast calls for pain
We stayed up all night talking
She's grown restless she confessed
She says there's no one new
But deep down I know that's next
The forecast calls for pain
My baby's turning cold
And the forecast calls for pain
She says she tried and tried yes she has
But slowly her love has died
I can see that deep down inside she's changed
The forecast calls for pain
The forecast calls for pain
The forecast calls for pain
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I can hear approaching thunder
I can feel chills run up my spine
I've seen love freeze before
And I know I'm on borrowed time
The forecast calls for pain
The forecast calls for pain
My baby's turning cold
And the forecast calls for pain
I can feel the thunder
I can see the lightning
I can feel the pain
Oh, it's gonna rain
The forecast calls for pain
The forecast calls for pain
My baby's turning cold
And the forecast calls for pain

I get a constant busy signal When I call you on the phone
Robert Cray is the man. Love is music
great singer and a good guitraist of all time. He is not show man like JH and others. People like RG, are very much underrated .We like people biting the the guitar, burning and crushing the great guitar under their feet which you cannot see from respectable musicians like chris Rea, George Benson, EC, JP .
robert cray i have seen him 5 times one of the best and most underrated guitarest of all time.ive lived his songs.because theirs consequences for what we do just awesome
💕 💞 💓 💗 💖
I remember the time well when I first heard this. Circa Sep. 1990, this song and Van Morrison's 'Real Real Gone' were on the airwaves in heavy rotation...then all but vanished, never to be seen and (rarely) heard again.
Go R.Cray great song great looking women.
I guess the old must go before Robert can reign...oh well
Ahhhh....Pain....not rain.....now I get it.
Damn! THAT is a jam!!!!
Robert was just what I needed in the 90's! Thanks, Phillip Frady, for turning me onto, Robert Cray!
haven't heard this beautifully soul inspired song since the late 80,s.what a gem
I discovered Robert Cray in 1986 when I first got into the blues. He is a smooth musician.
The Spirit and The Bride 777 ~

I Think He Should be Voted Sexiest Man of the Blues!!
Your'e like the 3rd white woman on here salivating over Robert. I think he strikes a nerve with you.

Didn't Mr. T say this in Rocky 3?
Yes It Does...
calls for love but the forecast calls for sun
Just don;t call you late for dinner
Robert Cray is like ice cream melting on your tongue, starts off kind of cold, get's real cool, then a sensation of real sweet.
o cara é fera, toca pra demais
My first great favorite . The ladies a little less than sartorial splender/however class.
Man this is some slick stuff :)
If you ever get a chance to see him live.....GO...it is an awesome experience. I saw him many times when he was beginning his career in Eugene, Oregon....so so many years ago....I'm talking 1973....Wow! He is a true talent.
TRUE 'DAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Title sounds like something Mohammed Ali would've said.
Larrymh07 W!
Larrymh07 This would be my walkout song if i was a boxer/mma fighter. 💪💪
NO DOUBT !!!!!
What an R&B Monster, in the tradition of those great song stylists/guitarists/vocalists/understated yet simmering. Destined to be in the pantheon of Freddy King/Otis Rush/Joe Louis Walker.
awesome response!...kudos Kenya!

Awesome...You dont learn the Bluzz ur born that way : )
happy 60th to Robert today. a great, great artist with unlimited talent.
Just checked him out at Pori Jazz festival. Awesome! Humble! Notorious! Talented!
You might want to check your facts...I suggest Wikipedia since they will not allow me to include the link in this post. Paddy Tharp. I am 59....just 3 months younger than Robert Cray. He did live in the Tacoma area at one time but, it was in Eugene, Oregon that he formed the Robert Cray Band. He also was part of a band. named the Cray-hawks which included Curtis Salgado.
Busy bass line.wish I could do half as much.
Great, great tune. Not only does the guitar sound great, but what a backing, esp the bass and organ. And to cap it off, those sweet, sweet vocals. Really marks him out as special on top of the playing. Great post man, thanks.
amazin talent
Agreed, a superb mix on this track. Of course, it doesn't hurt that this band plays so well and that Cray was gifted with the perfect voice to sing this.
its just so frigging good !!!!!!!
Shit, missed that. Didn't know.
I'm going to see him at Paradiso, Amsterdam, on Tuesday.
Real music, that's what I'm talking about.!

@DeniseAnnal1961 That's interesting because I saw him warm up for Eric Clapton about 6 years ago and he did this song. I wonder why he doesn't play it anymore.

Woke up to hear the heart breaking news Stevie was killed in a helicopter crash.
My God, it was unbelievably foggy on the ride home; couldn't see anything!
A helicopter that night? Never should have happened, period.

@pattif1239 I absolutely love Robert Cray and agree with you,I could go see him every week and still not get bored ♥ He is just amazing and it seems to come natural and from his soul.I was so close to him at the concert I could see his fingers on the guitar strings and he does play like he was born with it in his hands. His voice is so perfect and he still sounds as young & strong as he did in the 80's ♥
@cebailey1965 I think it's a young Renee Zelwegger
Anyone know the name of he actress in this?
@racecarrr are you kidding me this man is amazing, you evidently appreciate, good blues, I mean Eric Clapton and BB King have nothing but praise for this man and all you can say is he is to adult contemporary, you evidently do not appreciate or recognize artistry when you see or hear it.
Don't know why I can't get enough RC he is just too cool and tells a story like no other man can! Love him X My baby's turnin cold and the forecast calls for pain! X He's great in concert too sounds just like his CD's a hard thing to accomplish! ♥
Love it!! Coffee for Breakfast shot of Whiskey on the side hahaha
Love this man,he is still awesome, only get's finer with time ♥ He is one of the best guitarists/story tellers on Earth! And even live in concert he replicates the sound on his finest CD's ♥ Love you Robert ♥ Donna ♥
not that cool i hope this is not his best work. seems too adult contemporary commercial boring
I LOVE ROBERT CRAY Best concert I've ever been to. He is so natural on that guitar I believe he was born with it in his hands. He is one of the best players and singer/song writers ever.I love how his songs all tell a story and seem to come from his heart.Just can't say enough about him and his talents. Thanks for this post!
could you post a decent tab fot it then? i cant find one.
Robert has an amazing voice and equally great chops. The tone is amazing but it is so simple. Its just a hardtail strat' into a fender twin.
I could listen to this for hours.
Great song great vocals and guitar.Covered this song in the nineties .Love that groove.
