Robbins, Marty - Yesterday Lyrics

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday

Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be
There is a shadow hanging over me
Yesterday came suddenly

Why she had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say
I said something wrong now I long for yesterday

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday

I believe in yesterday...

Robbins, Marty Yesterday Comments
  1. S.... ....

Honestly Marty robbins did good on this and for me that says more than a lot because i don't like country music and I think nobody matches Paul mccartney.

Marty was one of Paul's idols when he was growing up. Marty also knew Buddy Holly, who was Paul's biggest idol. Marty and Paul are similar in that they have an innate ability to come up with melodies instantly. Paul is a great songwriter, but for me Marty is the best, especially his ability to write songs over so many styles, ie rockabilly, pop, country, hawaiian, gospel, mexican, western etc calypso.

I am sure Paul McCartney thought, "I am in awe of Marty, and he just recorded one of my songs." I actually read that Marty was Paul's favorite country performer growing up. John admired Hank Williams, Sr. George favored Jimmie Rodgers and Chet Atkins. Ringo liked Gene Autry (one of Marty's favs)

He never ceases to amaze me with his outstanding ability to give so much soul to any song. Thanks for your effort to keep his music playing.

.Victor.  Yes Tom Jones did sing it well but Marty did compose it and you can't take that away from him.!!

Yes you are right: I misread an article. Marty Robbins was great but I spend hours and hours these days listening to Tony Christie, Al Martino, The Everley Brothers and Vince Hill (to name a few)
Have a great Christmas and New Year!

actually John Lennon and Paul McCartney Wrote It Marty Robbins just rearranged it

@Keith Hornsby Marty did not need a George Martin to produce his music. Sometimes, I wonder if Marty was from another world, ie Tesla in science, Mozart in music, Shakespeare in literature etc.

  5. V.... B....

Sorry man! I prefer the one by Tom Jones!

  6. D.... D....

he does this old song so well!

What are you talking about it being old. Marty had written a whole catalogue of songs before Paul wrote it.
