Robbins, Marty - Jodie (Judy) Lyrics
You came down out of Heaven to make me happy, dear
To smile away my sorrows and kiss away my tears
Seems that I have loved you though we've never meet before
But now you're in my heart, love, to stay for evermore
You're the sweetest flower that Heaven ever grew
My arms could never hold another
'Cause my love is only for you
The nights were dark and lonely the days were lonely too
But now they're all so bright, love, cause all I see is you
You came into my heart, love, from out of empty space
With a song upon your lips, dear, with a smile upon your face
You're my angel, Judy, you're my darlin'
My arms could never hold another
'Cause my love is only for you

Robbins, Marty Jodie (Judy) Comments
i really love this song sung by the best xx
My record CL1189 Marty Robbins is scratched form 1958/59 is scratched. I'd like to replace it with a CD. Is it available in that format.
My Dad really wants this recording, in any form, if he could only find it. Is it only one the one album (Marty Robbins)? I have been searching through the Wikipedia discography, and haven't found it. Can anyone help me find a recording of it? It would be much appreciated, especially if I could get it to him for his birthday in April. Marty Robbins has a beautiful voice, and takes my Dad back to his young adult years (before I was born!). I think he'd buy nearly every recording in the discography, if he could. Sadly, his local music store in Eugene hasn't been able to provide him with any of Marty Robbins' recordings. How messed up is that?
@meri mcmurdo Have you the Ernest Tubb record shop in Nashville, TN?
@knitting mama No, we're out here in Oregon and Washington. BUT--I finally found a set of Marthy Robbins CDs that had Jodie on one of them, and our Dad was THRILLED!!! He listened to it over and over again in those first few days after he got them. VERY nice quality, and we were so happy to get them for him.
@meri mcmurdo I am glad that you found it. I live in Arkansas and I have ordered records in the past from Ernest Tubb record shop in Nashville, TN and they shipped them to me. They used to have hard to find items.
@knitting mama Thank you for the tip! Next time my Dad has a hankering to hear an old country song, I'll try out Ernest Tubb.
@meri mcmurdo You're welcome and I am glad to know that southerners aren't the only ones that use the word hankering. I get a hankering every once in a while to hear an oldie but goldie.
It is a great song and I have sang it many times but I always replaced the word Judy with beauty.that way I could sing it to someone with a name other than Judy.
one more to add, my file said Angel Judy....that may have been by person who made the file...as many change the title to their likeing and that what I saw the title as on the file
And one more thing, Wynn Stewart by the time he recorded the song the name was change to "Judy" due to Marty release of it that way....but I will as the album info from 1958 said it was at the time Jodie (Judy) as the writer of the song may had name it Jodie and Marty Change it to Judy because he thought it was a better title than Jodie...but as I said about copyrights...it was title this way on that album to keep from being sued...thanks to vee vee..we say nothing more!
Thank you, the point is what I said it was, the title will be as the album say because it said so..ty Vee

I have heard Marty introduce the song as 'Judy.' If I were wrong, (which I'm not), why is Wynn Stewart also singing the same song as 'Judy.' I just like things to be correct and people often get song titles wrong on youtube. I am very particular when it comes to Marty Robbins and because someone makes a mistake like they did with 'Jodie' it has to be corrected even if it's half a century plus later!
It seem the real title is Jodie, but Marty use the name Judy instead! that why is say "Jodie (Judy)" i guess it was their way to protect themself from copyright suit
According to the 1957 self title album we are both wrong and the files is wrong too...it says on the album --"Jodie (Judy)" and that what it say! thank for the comments
The correct title is 'Judy.'
