Riverside have been a real pleasure for me recently after hearing there second album Second Life Syndrome i was hooked what a real treat for progressive rock fans

@Parallevis Roaring? You mean harsh vocals?

They do in some of their stuff, they still have a lot of stuff with clean vocals though.

Riverside is more like Opeth's album damnation then anything else Opeth has done.

Doesn't Opeth have roaring though? Whether or not they are considered prog metal, I'm not sure DT and Opeth have the same audiences in terms of what kind of music their fans tend to like.

Either way, I like music. ;)

Instead of arguing about who's better or not, the bottom line is that Dream Theater, Opeth and Riverside all are great, awesome bands. IMO, all DT is good, even the new stuff. You're giving Kevin Moore way too much credit for their first few albums-he really doesn't have alot of input on Awake anyway.

While technically wise Dream theater is better than ever before - The originality, song writing skill and vocals are worse than ever before.

^These three DT albums, their first three, are all amazing.

But the album Metropolis Part 2 and the EP A Change Of Seasons are also both great, DESPITE lacking Kevin Moore.

Everything other than those four albums and that EP has sucked, with the exception of maybe one or two songs an album.

Man) god bless your opinion. The genuine sound of DT dissapeared as soon as they got rid of the guy who added the 'touch' to the band. You just have to give the two first albums a single listen and you'll notice it.

Realistically, they lost their spark after Kevin Moore left.

The fact that they sold out once they started releasing albums like Six Degrees and Train of Thought and the fact there singer sucks now doesn't help them any.

Ha!!! YeS!! And look how good MP and his mates have noticed it than as soon as Opeth were killing it whith their music, DT decided getting closer to them with concerts, interviews and stuff.
DT's lost its musicality a few albums ago.

Yep, sometimes a band just comes along and just blows you away. A friend put me on to Riverside a few weeks ago - absolutely brilliant. Hoping to see them in London later this year.
