Rivers, Johnny - Walkin' Blues Lyrics

Woke up this morning, feel 'round for my shoes
You know 'bout that babe, had them old walkin' blues
Woke up this morning, I feel 'round for my shoes
You know 'bout that babe, uh-uh Lord, I had them old walkin' blues

Leave this morning, I had to go ride the blinds
I've been mistreated, don't mind dying
This morning, I had to go ride the blinds
I've been mistreated, uh-uh Lord, I don't mind dying

People tell me walkin' blues ain't bad
Worst old feeling I most ever had
People tell me the old walkin' blues ain't bad
Well, it's the worst old feeling, Lord, I most ever had

Do yourself a favor. Look up Joe Bonamassa. Eric Claption, Muddy Waters, Son House, and some others singing this same song.

+James Mack You're missing something here son, Johnny Rivers was playing the blues when very few other white dudes were.  He was huge in 1962-63, opened the whiskey a go go.  You are correct in that his is not the ultimate version of this tune but the guy was doing rock and roll and doing it well when it was out of favor.  Further he's one of the few Americans that didn't roll up and die (so to speak) when the British invasion hit.

I love Clapton and Muddy but this is the best cover ever, I don't mix love with music

    J.... M....

hIS GREATEST accomplishment is staying alive. I won't hear much talk of "the greatest of them all" if they are gone at 25. When you add my daddy's number one rule- NO BIKES....makes it more remarkable.

    J.... M....

I cheked Roy Rogers version, and it's awesome like this one.Now I got my two best versions haha!!!

    J.... M....

    Sands of time
+ Daniel Lucena  Yep, you got that right. Me thinks the same. Funny though, Johnny Rivers got  178K+,but Roy Rogers got like what 1M+. If you ask 12 people on the street who RR is , they'd  say he was a cowboy. If you asked the same people who JR is, many would know.

  15. p.... ....

    Excelente!!!!!

  16. J.... M....

Damn!  This is GOOD!  I did not think he had this in him.  Boy, I DAMN SURE WAS WRONG!

    J.... M....

When you think of JR, think about that classic movie "Water Boy" , cause he and Mammma have a thick of a cajun draw as they come, when they need it, that's why anyone thinking JR was nothing but a perennially top 40 guy- I dare so one to challenge him on the "walking Blues" JR- gifted with many voices and interpretations and master of them all.

  17. C.... A....

Massa esse som...Blues de prima qualidade!!!!

look up johnnyrivers.com and find a concert.  He is better in person.
He will rock the house as good as 50 years ago. He has every age on their feet and
dancing, even the 70 year olds.. A real living leagend.

    K.... T....

Thats because over 50 years I was around when Johnny first came out with those songs. I am 70 years old now.

  19. W.... W....

    La mejor versión, lejos.

  20. r.... s....

    orei do go go

  21. D.... S....

    Just love it!

  22. c.... ....

    aguante johnny aguante el bluesssssssss

  23. J.... H....

This guy's terribly under-rated in every respect -- for example, his guitar playing, so well represented here. And so many of his songs, like this one, were recorded live. He's a monster.

    J.... H....

In truth, I believe he could play well- and in his own brand and style- but seems edgy and hires a lead guy to "get him thee"

  24. T.... T....

    puro blues....
