I like this band BUT this song is ABSOLUTE SHIT. However it's definetly about drugs. Why else would they use methadone. A strong ass painkiller and is also used for opiate and opioid withdrawal

As someone on methadone, it's both a curse and a gift. This entire song resonates so well in me. I'm always feeling like a burnt out flame. No easy choices to make things better and constantly feeling like everything you feel is numbed down starts to wear on you, nothing feels as good as it should or hurts like it should, and the stars really don't shine as bright.

It’s just substituting one drug for another. I’m saying this as someone who has and is coming off methadone , I came of subs a few years back. I honestly would rather come off herion over either of these synthetic drugs. I don’t know why but feels like it binds with your soul or something . I came across this video on my fourth day stopping dones cold turkey. It’s nice to know others understand the pain and discomfort of these drugs. I’m tired of people thinking it’s just a fucking party.

It's certainly about drugs, whether that's love or methadone is up for interpretation.

I fucking love this song. I could listen to a whole album of rise against songs like this over and over and not get sick of it.

I feel like this song is about somebody in a relationship (romantic, friendly, familial, etc.) and he knows that his presence is hurting the other person. He wants to spare the other the pain, so he wants to leave, declaring "Without me along, you're better off and I know." I don't think it's necessarily specifically about drugs, but someone could certainly take it that way when applying it to their own life.

For me, on a more personal level, I feel I can really relate to this message. I don't consider myself a bad person, but I hurt people that I care about, and not on purpose, with things that I say or do. Sometimes I feel like these people are better off just without me around at all.

I suppose you know nothing about methadone. It's very much about how poorly people get treated when they are on methadone.

My interpretation of the song is the strains of a relationship when one of the party suffers from mental illness. And the protagonist is begging the other to leave because it's too much to handle and they will only make their lives miserable.

I think this song is perfect apart from the first 35 seconds. Could just be that I'm still not used to the different sound. I think the song would be a little better if he growled a bit more on the "What would it take for you to notice......I'm better off on my own" parts. More dramatic in a good way.

I really like this song, i can relate to it a lot. A few weeks ago i just got out of rehab for a heroine  addiction and i have or have had all the feelings in this song and it helps keep me strong in my recovery, i love Rise Against!!!
