Ricky Skaggs - That's Why I'm Walkin' Lyrics

I've got my angel on my mind that's why I'm walkin'
There's such an ache in this old heart now I ain't talkin'
The little hand that held mine tight just waved goodbye tonight
I've got her sweet love on my mind that's why I'm walkin'.

With an old love on your mind life's not worth livin'
I breathe her name with every breath I'm breathin'
Why could I never see how much she meant to me
I've got her sweet love on my mind that's why I'm walkin'.

With an old love on your mind life's not worth livin'
I breathe her name with every breath I'm breathin'
Why could I never see how much she meant to me
I've got her sweet love on my mind that's why I'm walkin'.

I've got my angel on my mind that's why I'm walkin'...

    Chills :)

  2. Terry's Gaming Zone

Ricky Skaggs has always been one of my favorites. I only listen to old and traditional country music and this is a gem. I love how Ricky sings here. Great great song!I love bluegrass also and Jimmy Martin is my favorite. I prefer Rickys country over his bluegrass. I am a fan of both his styles.

    Jeff Repinski

Ricky keeps it country recently found this one and loving every time

I've got an angel on my mind
    That's why I'm walkin'
I've got an aching this so hard
    Now I ain't talkin'

That little hand that held mine tight
    Just waved goodbye tonight
I've got the sweet love on my mind
    That's why I'm walkin'.

With an old love on your mind
    Nothing's worth livin'
    I breathe her name
    With every breath I'm breathin'

    Why could I never see
Just what she mean to me
I've got her sweet love on my mind
    That's why I'm walkin'.

I've got an angel on my mind
    That's why I'm walkin'
There's an aching this so hard
    Now I ain't talkin'

    Why could I never see
Just what she mean to me
I've got her sweet love on my mind
    That's why I'm walkin'.

I've got an angel on my mind
    That's why I'm walkin'.....

The Best version you'll ever hear.

    Arla j. Martin

I think Jimmie Dale Gilmore sang this too he does a good job too, but not sure he recorded it.

  5. James Baldwin

Terry Crisp and his steel guitar MAKE THIS VERSION of this ole Stonewall tune..BEAUTIFUL..

    Dean Holman

I know for a fact Terry played on this song, because I played steel for Skaggs in the mid nineties. This was from the Coming Home to Stay Album. Lloyd only played 2 cuts on that album, Terry played the rest.

    Bob Snelgrove

    Wrong It's Lloyd (obviously)

  6. Tim Lambert

I remember this from my childhood.

  7. Scott Rozell

    Great old Stonewall Jackson tune.

  8. Bloufromaz58

    Thanks JT!!!

  9. elysianfields49

The more morose, the better; TRUE country!

  10. elysianfields49

This song is just perfect: it has the wonderfully mournful sound of a traditional country song."New country" is for the birds; the old country works just fine for me.

  11. Buster Fandango

I actually like this version better than Stonewall's.

    Tommy Shown

    I do too.

    Joseph Lesumaiserene

yeah stonewall jackson just don't got as good of a voice

  12. wolf man gunn

Ricky says 'Thank You, Stonewall Jackson'.

  13. Kelton King

    @75hagfan Terry Crisp.

  14. 75hagfan

this has got to have one of the most awesome steel guitar in it ever.... I know that's not bruce bouton i wonder who's playing steel on this?

    Dean Holman

It was not Lloyd Green. Terry Crisp played on this song. Terry told me that Skaggs wanted him to play something that sounded like Lloyd would play. I know this because I played steel for Skaggs in the mid nineties.

    Jeff Repinski

The steel guitar in this song makes my hair stand up just awesome 👌

  15. themavericks

The only thing this song needs to make it perfect is 3 or 4 part harmony imo

  16. TheHickoryhill
