Ricky Skaggs - My Little Georgia Rose Lyrics

Now come and listen to my story
Story that I know is true
'Bout a rose that blooms in Georgia
With hair of gold and a heart so true.

Way down in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Way down where the tall pines grow
There's my sweetheart of the mountain
She's my little Georgia rose.

Her mother left her with another
A carefree life she had planned
Maybe now she's a lady
One her mother could not stand.

Way down in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Way down where the tall pines grow
There's my sweetheart of the mountain
She's my little Georgia rose.

We often sang old songs together
I watched her do her little part
She'd smile at me and I would tell her
That she was my own sweetheart.

Way down in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Way down where the tall pines grow
There's my sweetheart of the mountain
She's my little Georgia rose.

Way down in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Way down where the tall pines grow
There's my sweetheart of the mountain
She's my little Georgia rose...

Is there nuthin' Tritt can't do ???
That man is one of thee most talented performers and artists ever and doesn't get the recognition cause the Nashville boys are total assholes. Hall of fame before he dies or Nashville must burn.
Man he's a pretty good picker on Banjo and keeps the riffs going while he sings. Most only play or sing, try doing both some time.

  5. b.... m....

  15. Q.... T....

Too true the one on the fiddle got more to do !-_•

  16. D.... H....

Phenomenal Travis is one of the most underrated singers in country

  17. d.... ....

Excellent performance and must commend Travis Tritt for some top notch banjo pickin. He keeps the riffs going all along while he sings, not easy to do.

  18. S.... ....

Coming in late but isn't the title to this "Little Georgia Rose"? Not "sweet"?

    S.... ....

    Ain't She Sweet?

  19. J.... T....

The man in the blue shirt is Paul Brewster and he is to Ricky what Ozwald was to Acuff look up his rendition of the Kentucky Waltz.

  20. S.... F....

@Ricky Skaggs - You need to put a bluegrass band together. Marty Stuart on Mandolin, Travis Tritt on Banjo, Vince Gill on Guitar....theres gotta be some other nashville star that can play bass, and then call it " Nashville Earth"

    S.... F....

wait got it! Brad Paisley ! I bet he can pick bass and sing the bass part!

    S.... F....

Barry Bales of AKUS- great bass player, fantastic background vocals

    S.... F....

Ricky has the guys he wants, I imagine. :) Those other guys are all fine but would cost too much. You might get them to do a one-off charity benefit event. Bluegrass is like jazz, in that the greatest players don't make enough money to make a living.

  21. D.... R....

The man in the blue shirt singing harmony is outstanding! heard on another show with Ricky

    D.... R....

Do we know who that gentleman is?

    D.... R....

    Paul Brewster.

    D.... R....

sang in Soldier of the Cross

    D.... R....

You are correct- he's very good.

  22. b.... ....

    Licks flying everywhere!

    b.... ....

bezuglich Especially on Travis's and Jim's banjo

  23. G.... S....

THIS ISN'T GOOD IT'S OUTSTANDING!!! Why is ricky not in the country music hall of fame ?

    G.... S....

They like to wait 30 years too long before they put someone in the Hall of Fame.

  24. t.... ....

Ricky Skaggs killin' it as usual :)

  25. j.... m....

wow he can sing and he can pick go Travis peace love pray .

    j.... m....

    AMEN sister

  26. R.... M....

    quite a team

  27. 2.... 3....

A special hand for Jim Mills! I hear you back there Jim with that fantastic driving banjo backup!

  28. 2.... 3....

Well, I never thought of Travis Tritt of a banjo player - but hey, he's pretty dang good! I like his Scruggs style pickin'. Awesome job by all these musicians. Bobby Hicks! Ricky Skaggs! Does it get any better??

    2.... 3....

check out the performance of foggy mountain breakdown from this show, he did great on that too

  29. P.... p....

The Allstar Bluegrass Celebration, filmed live at the Ryman (for PBS) - has to be one of the best Bluegrass Shows ever captured on film. I was fortunate enough to record it the night of original Broadcast and have been loving it ever since! Thanks for the post!

  30. s.... ....

Well, alright Travis!  Never knew he picked the 5 - and he does a super "straight ahead Scruggs-style" job here, but also - wow - his singing of this!  Great!  And Skaggs classic Ky Thunder band:  The awesome Paul Brewster on tenor & Bobby Hicks on the twin fiddle - he played on the ORIGINAL Monroe version of this song!  Jimmy Mills holdin' back on 5 string on the far right cause he's lettin' Travis do it, but don't worry...!   Then Andy Leftwich, great fiddler, and Cody Kilby, great guitarist, plus the always dependable Mark Hain on bass.  This is a fine vid post!

  31. o.... ....

... ooops! Have a Happy Holidays!

  32. o.... ....

Ah, I knew there would be problems if I worked in high frame rate ... :)

  33. b.... ....

Naaa.. sticking with 3 frames as it's a video. If it was film then I'd go with your 2 and a half!

  34. o.... ....

Do you mean two and a half?

  35. b.... ....

Audio is about 3 frames late

    b.... ....

Seriously ? Really ? That's your comment on this ???
    Get out more.
Filed, under who gives a fuck, cause nobody cept 1 other tard here is giving a fuck.

  36. D.... D....

    Great picking from Travis
