Ricky Nelson - There Goes My Baby Lyrics

There goes my baby goin' for a ride
Yeah, there goes my baby goin' for a ride
Well, I know she's lonesome if I'm not by her side

She's always talkin' on that telephone
Awww, she's always talkin' on that telephone
Well, she must be lonely 'cause she's at home alone

Well, time's a wastin' talkin' bout this gal
I love her so much, but I'll get along somehow

Yeah, we used to fight, and she'd call me a dirty dog
Awww, we used to fight, and she'd call me a dirty dog
Well, talkin' to that woman is like talkin' to a hollow log

Yeah!

There goes my baby goin' for a ride
Awww honey, there goes my baby goin' for a ride
Yeah, I know she's lonesome cause I'm not by her side

Well, my time's a wastin' talkin' 'bout this gal
I love her so much, but I'll get along somehow

Well, there goes my baby goin' for a ride
Awww, there goes my baby goin' for a ride
Yeah, I know she's lonesome cause I'm not by her side
Yeah, well I know she's lonesome if I'm not by her side

Ricky Nelson There Goes My Baby Comments

    Cover: Los Solitarios ( Mexico ) - Ahí va mi nena ( 196? ).

LOVED playing this on my radio show today!

  3. d.... ....

You mean Rick Nelson not Martin, he's another current singer.

@nina1823 By the way, I did an intervew with Joey in 1984, on what was then The Ramones' 10th anniversary as a band. He stated at that time one of his goals was to work with Ronnie Spector, would like to see her enjoy the kind of resurgence in her career Tina Turner was then enjoying.

Well, Ronnie may not have had the "big comeback" Turner did in the mid-1980s. But at least Joey was able to fulfill one of his dreams before he died, to work with one of his idols.

@nina1823 Glad you got my points.

Also, Joey Ramone did a good solo album/CD just before he died, as well as having produced a CD for Ronnie Spector. And Ronnie covered some Ramones' songs, as well as "Don't Worry Baby," which head Beach Boy Brian Wilson wrote for her "back in the day," but which Phil Spector wouldn't let her record at the time, probably bcause he wouldn't have received any songwriting royalties.

But the bulk of Joey's greatest material is with The Ramones.

@gymnastix Yeh, I got it, the truth is I don't really listen to the music of those 3 singers, I'm an Elvis and Rick Nelson fan. But I also like Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and some of their contemporaries. I checked Joey Ramone and I like his version of What a Wonderful World and also saw some clips of Johnny Crawford singing. I somehow like his voice when he got older. At present I also listen to those old country songs of the 50s and 60s.

Don't get me wrong--nothing wrong with having good looks--just that those good looks shouldn't eclipse genuine talent. Many would consider Janis Joplin or Joey Ramone to have not been "good-looking" in a classical sense. But they were great singers, which is my bigger point.

@nina1823 If you read my other postings, I am a fan of 'real' rock & roll singers and bands, such asThe Everly Brothers, Eddie Cochran, The Ramones, The Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, etc., NOT OF insipid and fleeting trends such as Bieber, Martin, and Timberlake, the latter posibly an exception owing to a burgeoning acting career.

  9. g.... ....

@nina1823 I was just kiding you about these three contemporary, alleged singers, whose careers are largely dependent on their looks.

This should have been obvious I was kidding you, by my use of a pun--the "Justin cases" (referring to two Justins, Bieber & Timberlake)/"just in case"--get it?

  10. N.... G....

@gymnastix Yes, I like their music very much, can't forget them.

  11. N.... G....

@gymnastix I saw Bieber's movie, this young guy is ok and Timberlake is also ok, but I'll try to check on Ricky Martin's songs later, I'm now listening to old country music like those of Hank Snow, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Jerry Reed, Don Williams and others, thanks for your comments.

  12. g.... ....

Good song, but not the one I thought it was going to be.

I thought, by the title, this would be a cover of The Drifters' hit of the same name.

Actually, I could hear Ricky doing that one too. Ricky could handle almost any material, from fast-paced rockabilly rave-ups to tender love ballads.

    g.... ....

Great points!! Personally, I like this song better, but that's me.

  13. g.... ....

@nina1823 May I add one more? He's not exclusively rock 'n roll, but the younger actor/singer Johhnny Crawford ("Mark McCain" on the TV series "The Rifleman") was both fine-looking AND a tremendous singer as well.

    g.... ....

I agree with you, Johnny Crawford is an excellent singer....

  14. g.... ....

@nina1823 But, of course, the best-looking rock & roll guys, for me, were Eddie Cochran, Elvis, Ricky Nelson, and The Everly Brothers (Don & Phil)! I loved their music, AND their looks made me "cream in my jeans."

That's the best combination possible, and doesn't happen much anymore, where looks=talent.

  15. g.... ....

@nina1823 For me, the music comes first, and then "The Look."

And while there have been some singers and bands whose "looks" I've enjoyed, such as the early Beatles (except for Ringo), Brian Jones and Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones, and Jim Morrison of The Doors, there have also been those whose looks did nothing for me, but about whose music I was crazy--such as The Ramones and Iggy Pop.

  16. g.... ....

@nina1823 You mean the "Justin cases" (Bieber & Timberlake) aren't doin' it for ya?

Or how about another "Ricky" who was big a few years back--Ricky Martin?

Do you mean to tell me you weren't "Livin' 'La Vida Loco'," and "Shakin' Your Bon-Bon?"

  17. N.... G....

Oh how I wish I could get my hands on those magazines with colorful Ricky Nelson covers. I can't see any handsome men like Ricky and Elvis nowadays. Thanks for the video.
