ricky nelson was so magical. i remember passing the exit theater in nashville on my way to work while he was playing there. i couldn't afford to go, wish i could have gone.

Okay, I'm gonna write this as if Rick's still alive, 'cause he definitely is: still around in all of us who dug & dig him, and hey—is that also Ricky playin guitar? Sure looks like him—how can he be in 2 places at once? Anyway, here's my take on this take: Funny Jerry-Lee-Whole-Lotta-Shakin take on this number; still feels good. What made the B.H. original great, though, is its pre-punk simple justa-few--notes instruments attack, incl. minimal bass which woulda been better on this than standard 1-4-5 blues boogie, but that's all right now Ricky, any way you do. Still feels good, and we love you. Thank you!

Bobby Neal (age 38) also died in the fatal New's Year evening plane crash. Sad. Bobby and Rick must have good friends. Sad news that evening.

Gary Olafson I thought it was David Nelson.

Nope ! David Nelson is Ricky's older brother. David never became a musician, never played an instrument or sang in Ricky's band(s). David was an actor and he was the businessman for the entire Nelson family. David passed away in 2011, 26 years after this Rave On video.

Yes, this song was written and sung by the late, great Buddy Holly. Rick does a good job on it - loved him and his music. A tragic ending to his life, but his memory lives on.
