I've madehundreds of comments, so I should know...i've even been called a loser and a jerk, but thenn that had to do with comments made in conjunction with Katy Perry & Eminem. Tillotson and Cliff...well anyone are entitled having their opinion...but hey man/woman, one can't compare those pretty boys with huge originators like JLL, El, Ed, Buddy, Chuck, Fats or Richard Penniman. They are in a division faaaaar and hiiiiigh above Rick or Cliff ot Tillotson.

@Ezdduf4kuZ AFAIK, Fats was second to Elvis during the entire 1950's selling rocknroll records. That says something. Fats sold H-U-G-E amounts, millions of platters during this time.

@barrygioportmorien1 Well, have Earl Palmer, that G-R-E-A-Tdrummer who played on almost every rockn'roll records, From Richard to Cochran (and a lots of other non rocknroll artists records, Frank Sinatra et al) and invited the 'Backbeat' or Hal Blaine (dms) get the recognition? Or 100 s of other studio musicians that in many ways were immensely much more important för the creation of Rockn'Roll than some more known performers. It is like the name of the game, it seems to me.

Right on, James is my pick of a fantastic guitar player who still hasn't gotten true recognition from the industry.

James Burton was the featured guest at Eric Clapton's "Crossroads" gutiar festival last summer (2010) in Chicago. After backing up Ricky for several years the Louisiana born gutiarist went on to back up Elvis Presley until "The King's" death in 1977. Though James Burton was not well known to most he was, indeed, a gutiar legend in his era.

Yeah, sick isn't it. Ricky did it all, without the glitz and foolishness that goes on today, and still these knuckleheads at Billboard can't see his fantastic contribution............... I agree Ricky is the runner up spot to Elvis, and for my money I would put Johnny Tillotson at third and maybe Cliff Richard at fourth, and so many other greats that never got their due, right behind them.

I've never heard this one before....It reminds me of "It's Late", which is one of my favorites by Rick. If it's an album cut it would explain why it didn't hit the airwaves here. Rick is in the runner up spot to Elvis.. king of r&r...I mean not only did he have a large number of top 40 singles, he was also one of the biggest television celebrities to have ever hit the boobtube. rickys version is much more poppy and slicker..personally i prefer Eddies song,its got a more rockier feel.

Now that's a guitar solo!!! Absolutely one my all time favorites. This song definately should've ranked higher. Never knew Eddie did this song though. I'll have to check that out.

Maybe to you, music is subjective, I like a few of Eddie's songs, but I like a lot of Ricky's.

yes it is a very underrated song indeed but definitely a very smooth version!! It's underrated for both Eddie Cochran and Ricky Nelson who both deserved more credit than what they got for it...it should have been way up higher in the charts for sure!!...thanks for posting :)

One Minute to One. High School guys practiced our dance moves for the winter Christmas dance 1959 at Visitation High School in Detroit at Joe Bourbeau's house. I never got it quite down. We all tryed though. Good song.

And sex was not like M&M candies and the act was not diminished by a"Dog In Heat Philosophy" of these modern times.
Yes, Riclky Nelson had that shy, boyish charm and was nothing but great. His song "Poor Little Fool" is my favorite, I guess I can relate to it. One of the best songs of the "Rock&Roll Era", but "One Minute To One" is the song that we practiced our dance moves too.

My friends and I used this song to practice our dance moves for the Christmas dance at my old high school(Detroit Visitation), so I'll never forget it.

Yeah, right on, on Ricky's songs you could pick James out, but you're right, he was not distinctive on Elvis's.

That's one for google- although David Dudley's stuff was a lot more "uncomplicated". I know he played for elvis and countless other acts- but was never better than with Rick Nelson. He always sounded pretty neutered with elvis.

Am I right or wrong, But I thought I heard that James burton played Guitar one time for Country Singer Dave Dudley. Any truth in that???

Kinda corny- then.... James Burton butts in and reminds us-again- he's one of the greatest architects of Rock and Roll. Pretty sweet.
