Rick Springfield - Tonight Lyrics
Patty's working, but she's watching the clock
She's in the back room counting stock
And down in a warehouse out by the dock
Jesse's lifting crates and breaking rock
But when the whistle blows to end the daily fight
Jesse takes that little girl and he holds her tight
As the day fades away he says
We're all that matters tonight
Tonight's the night, I know I'm right
And heart to heart, we'll make it Tonight
So hold me tight, and love me right
The world can wait for tomorrow Tonight
Patty comes like an angel and takes his hand
He says, "I wanna get married and make a stand
But there's just one thing you gotta understand
Now the pressure of living and the daily fight
Could hurt us in time if our perspective ain't right
So shut the door and put out the light
And baby, be here, because we're all that matters Tonight "
Tonight's the night, I know I'm right
And heart to heart, we'll make it Tonight
So hold me tight, and love me right
The world can wait for tomorrow Tonight
Break your back from nine to five
Sweating blood just to stay alive
Running home to the harbor light
Safe and warm, in love so right, Tonight
Tonight, Tonight, Tonight, Tonight,
Tonight, Tonight, Tonight, Tonight, Tonight
Tonight's the night, I know I'm right
And heart to heart, we'll make it Tonight
So hold me tight, and love me right
The world can wait for tomorrow Tonight
Tonight's the night, I know I'm right
And heart to heart, we'll make it t Tonight
So hold me tight, and love me right
The world can wait for tomorrow Tonight
Tonight's the night, I know I'm right
And heart to heart, we'll make it Tonight

Favorite song off this album. Classic Rick! Loved the 80's!
Good song!!❤
2019 and still listening💕 Should have been in my late teens or early twenties in the 80s😩
Still crushing on this guy ❤❤❤
This music just makes me happy. Awesome guitar rock and clear, crisp vocals.
I had this album when I was a kid. Damn it's been ages since I heard this song.
The sequel/spin-off song to Jessie’s Girl
seems like a softer "Livin' on a Prayer", same story as Tommy and Gina working shitty minimum wage jobs but have each other
this actually sounds like a softer, more chill version of "Living on a Prayer" with Patty and Jesse working shitty jobs and letting loose at night like Tommy and Gina.
think it should of been a bigger hit. If it was side b of Jessie's girl. maybe
I'll paraphrase a little but back in the '90's some African American host (don't recall her name) was interviewing Rick about a "comeback" and she made some comment about his songs being introspective and personal and he told her he mostly still "just writes songs about girls to get girls!" Best line ever. I am all man but Rick must be my man-crush and I got into music to get girls and at age 50 still play......but I got the girl already
I love this song so much! I haven't heard it in so long but still know every word.
I really loved this song when I was young and I still love this song.
b-side of don't talk to strangers. wore it out in 1982
Hell yeah! This is my favorite b-side. The B-Sides back then were awesome. For example "Flamethrower" B-Side to Freeze Frame by the J. Geils Band, etc. Great times, wearin out .45's!
Very memorable song!
AMEN ! a great artist not to mention a handsome guy and who could forget Dr Noah drake of general Hospital a shining star from the 80,s
But when the whistle blows to end the daily fight
And the working forces turn out the light
Jesse takes that little girl and he holds her tight
As the day fades away he says
I'm dying for a diet Sprite
7beerstoomany is more like it!!!!
came back again to listen to it :)
The guitar is amazing but hey rick always has been and he's rocking better than ever today! Go Rick your magic xox
Love ya bro, you are an Icon!
The thing about this song, in addition to being a nice sequel to Jessie's Girl, is that the backup vocal performance is outstanding. RS always had great studio sounds and this early recording shows where he was going.
At The Time when i was a Teenager a LONG TIME ago. This was One Of The COOLIST album covers of its time.
Patty's working, but she's watching the clock
She's in the back room counting stock
And down in a warehouse out by the dock
Jesse's lifting crates and sucking cock
@beardenmatt91 You'll be blessed by listening to music that had a heart, than some of the light-weight rubbish I hear now a days. Good fortune to you. Jack
@erichernandezrivera Keep it up! You never know where you'll end up!
wow , i have not forgotten this album but its been so long since i heard it.its still good.
One of the most underrated artists....I LOOOVE his songwriting, melody sense, vocal timbre, lirycs. etc...I'm a singer and I definitively owe a great deal of my passionate style to the hours I spent learning every vocal lick in his songs... Thanks RS for Great music and artistry!

The same Boss didi.
It's awesome Rick Springfield (Springthorpe) was able to sing music that the blue-collar average person can relate to - working hard for a living and loving during the night :)
Mein Lieblingssong von RICK !!! My Hero of my Youth !!!
