Every time he comes in concert in our area I take the entire family and he kills it! How he can keep rockin' it all these years later is incredible. I too had his posters plastered all over my walls as a teen. His music has certainly changed over the years and I am loving it all.

Got to see him perform this live in Austin last night. It was the best song in his set. It was so much bigger live, just a wall of bluesy sound and gospel-like chorus. Amazing. Got to highfive him.

BishopLake I don't think it's that people can't grow past it. Some just find this album disturbing. I love hearing different things from him and love the music from this, but I find it way too dark for my taste. 🙄

I always liked Ricks music. While the sound is a fun change and all, I think less is more. In other words one or two dark themed songs is plenty but you dont need a whole album! I do like the clever lines, the video and location and the music itself. I didn't like the voodoo lady haha. And though Im Christian, I get why the priest was in the video,( every one has something they hide in the dark) so true!! Cleanse your hands you sinners! 😄

In a way I rediscovered Rick recently and really started to identify with his darker side. He was just another “pretty boy” in the 80’s with some catchy radio friendly pop songs, but I did not start to really be a fan until Shock/Denial/Anger/Acceptance. Between that release and The Snake King, I will keep closely following and spend my money on him. I do wish that he would have put this kind of stuff out in the 70s and 80s. He seems like he is now able to and comfortable to be and play like he wants to without having to shoot for Top 40 radio.

Da Man is beautiful! One of the most under rated guitarists in the world. I have been a die hard fan for 37yrs now. He is one of my (if not the only true) inspirations in my life. Yes this new album, snake king, seems to be very contraversal.... But it's Rick Springfield and he stepped out of the "box" again. As with SDAA. Personally it is one of the best "new" blues album to come out as of late. As a musician myself(guitarist) you cannot stay in the same routine u HAVE to mix it up. So bottom line give Rick credit for "releasing his demons" sorry long post, but the album has only been out since January amd so many fans are dissing it. Had to pit my two cents in.

Still Rocking, seen him many times n he is a real down to earth guy who is good to his fans.
