This entire album,which I still own the vinyl of was a complete masterpiece from start to finish. I saw him live several times including the Cold Blooded tour which accompanied this album. Please believe Rick,Stone City Band and Mary Jane girls tore it all the way up. Rick James was an absolutely brilliant artist and should always be remembered for his gifts he left and not the mistakes he may have made in life. R.I.P King of Punk Funk

While Prince was accepted by the mainstream, Rick wasn't. His music was deemed too sexual and aggressive. MTV and BET wouldn't play his videos. Famously his friend David Bowie; who loved Ricks music; did an interview with CBS news calling out MTV who was playing Madonna's videos but for some reason Ricks were too nasty. Rick stayed true to his music and it cost him. He needs to be much more respected for his talents and groundbreaking music. He's much more than a Dave Chappelle skit.

Rick put Buffalo on the national stage, in some cases him music was a little sexually high strung but it was ground breaking as far as a new sound.

I was in my teens when Slick Rick took over the world, there was no one like him. He took "funk" to another level, the guy was a musical genius that did things that never had been done before, and never been done since. Truly one of a kind, his years from 78-84 were astonishingly productive and he had the midas touch. Drugs brought it all down, but there is no denying he was a legend.

Why didn't Rick get props for his music? He was one of the funkiest person ever. Prince says he funky, but I'm sorry, I would rather listen to Rick. Yet Prince opened for Rick. I hope Rick is in the Hall of Fame or has a star on the walk of fame, if not its a dam shame.

when most of my friends were into prince, I got into Rick. He was the king of punk funk and he was an amazing talent. i once saw him in concert where he turned off the mics and sang fire and desire with teena marie acapella. He was an amazing talent.
