Richard, Cliff - Willie And The Hand Jive Lyrics

Well, I know a cat called Way-Out Willie
He's got a cool, little chic, called rockin' Billy
Just a walking, strolling through the cue
Doing that crazy hand jive too

Papa said to Willie, "You'd ruin my home"
Said you and that hand jive have got to go
Willie said to Papa, "Don't put me down"
They're doing that hand jive all over town

Hand jive, hand jive
Hand jive, do that crazy hand jive

Mama, mama, look at uncle Joe
He's doing that hand jive with sister Flo
Mama said to papa, "Baby, you'd die"
If you're doin' that hand jive one more time

Hand jive, hand jive
Hand jive, do that crazy hand jive

Willie nearly got married last fall
Had a little Willie junior and that ain't all
Well, now that baby got famous and it's plain to see
Doing that hand jive on TV

Hand jive, hand jive
Hand jive, do that crazy hand jive

(One more time) Hand jive, hand jive
Hand jive, do that crazy hand jive

Not The Shadows they were called The Drifters when this was recorded. They toured the USA and had to change their name because there was already a Drifters band in the USA.The band were (left to right) Tony Meehan drums, Bruce Welch rhythm guitar, Cliff, Hank Marvin lead guitar and Jet Harris bass.

    R.... B....

No they changed their name before this and there were originally five of them. Talk to your parents before posting or check Wikipedia.

This is not anything from Buddy Holly other than Marv’s glasses. This is Bo Diddley / Bo Diddley beat.from around 54’ way before Johnny Otis did Willie and the hand jive and it got popular.Beside if a chick hawk is gonna sing a song with a name like this, maybe “Willie Jr’s Hand Job” is the right name.

He sure does, Buddy Holly influenced him in more than his look, and it's plain in his riifs, his anme is Hnak Marvin, and he was part of Cliff Richard and The Shadows. After they split from Cliff, Hank Marvin developed a distinctive twaning tremelo, which influenced a huge number or guitarists, including Chris Isaac, whichChris e acknowleges, the guitar " Blue Hotel" is pure Shadows

Jay Igaboo: Jay, Hank developed his guitar sound in 1960, this was through Cliff buying him his first Stratocaster from the factory in California in 1959, he then started experimenting with the tremolo bar and then was introduced to the Meazzi Echomatic distributed by Vox by a British rocker Joe Brown, from this came his sound. This sound can be first heard on Cliff's hits of 1960 Fall In Love With You and Please Don't Tease, shortly followed by the Shads first instrumental hit Apache. The Hank Marvin sound was then born, the rest is history!

Buddy Holly my ass this is Bo Diddley almost note for note where do you get buddy Holly other than the glasses. This whole song is just Bo Diddley/ Bo Diddly beat. Which he did in 1954 long before Johnny Otis did Willie and the hand jive.Besides if this chicken hawk would sing a song like this maybe “Willie Jr.s Hand Job” is more appropriate.

    J.... I....

Buddy Holly sang a song called 'Bo Diddley' - similar style to this song!

FYI Cliff's backing group were called the Drifters when this was recorded. They had to change their name to the Shadows because of a name clash with US Drifters.

The guy on the right looks like buddy holly

    L.... C....

Of course he does - Hank Marvin (and most other budding British pop musicians of the time, including George Harrison and Paul McCartney) were all great fans of Buddy Holly )and Eddie Cochran) - Buddy and Eddie toured the UK in the late 50s!

Bernhard Nizynski i keep seeing Buddy Holly.I don’t see it no offense. Bo Diddly/Bo Diiddly Beat is almost the same exact music other than words and Bo Diddly had Lady Bo and the chickehawk Had Marv nothing against Marv he is a great picker and from what it seems a great human being.Ole Cliff I can’t say that about.Im sorry but I can’t say guys like Cliff are fine and than look at a sex offender list and dispise them.Same goes for Chuck Berry,Pete Townsend and the rest.
