+2007zodiac i don't hate ashcroft, i think he was the greatest front man of his generation and the verve are my band, but Hold On is every bit as bad as this one, just calculated europop terribleness, it's hard to believe this is the same guy from 20 years ago! when i first saw this video 6 years ago my jaw dropped, it's tragic that he's now released something just as bad it. The dude has been in a decade and a half rut, he needs a good shake of the head, do some collaborating or something.

@Kyle Christian He's writing silly religious songs, that's how.  His work with The Verve was much, MUCH better than this crap.  I could see a pastor singing this at church.  Lame.  I love Richard's style, but not in this case.  He needs to stick with his instincts.

I can totally understand how you feel, I remember my dad being horrified when his hero Bob Dylan started making Christian albums in the 70s/early 80s(?). I actually think the only thing I dislike about this track is RA's voice sounds a bit below par. But the Christian connotations of the song don't bother me at all, there was always a strong spiritual side to all The verve lyrics which has kind of intensified throughout Ashcroft's career.
