Rich, Charlie - Big Boss Man Lyrics

Big boss man
Won't you hear me when I call? (big boss man, ah, big boss man)
Yeah, big boss man
Won't you hear me when I call? (big boss man, ah, big boss man)
Well you ain't so big
You just tall and that's all (big boss man, ah, big boss man)

Well, you got me workin', boss man
Workin' around the farm
I wanna little drink of water
But you won't gimme some

Big boss man
Won't you hear me when I call? (big boss man, ah, big boss man)
Well you ain't so big
You just tall and that's all (big boss man, ah, big boss man)

(Big boss man, ah, big boss man)
Well, I'm gonna find a boss man
One that'll treat me right
Work hard in the daytime
Rest easy at night

Big boss man
Won't you hear me when I call? (big boss man, ah, big boss man)
Well you ain't so big
You just tall and that's all (big boss man, ah, big boss man)

Big boss man
Won't you hear me when I call? (big boss man, ah, big boss man)
Yeah, big boss man
Won't you hear me when I call? (big boss man, ah, big boss man)
Well you ain't so big
You just tall and that's all (big boss man, ah, big boss man)
No, you ain't so big
You just tall and that's all (big boss man, ah, big boss man)
No, you ain't so big

  1. T.... D....

Good voice & piano & energy.

  2. T.... M....

This is so much better than Elvis' version, there's just no comparison. Charlie nailed this!

  3. N.... V....

I've become a Charlie Rich fan recently, what a voice,

    N.... V....

for me the same, what a musician

  4. H.... C....

The song originally came from bb king all 3 artist did well with the different styles of the song but to put a twist to it bb king version is a lot like Michael Jackson's Billie Jean look it up if you don't believe me

    H.... C....

JImmy Reed did it first and did it best!

  5. E.... A....

Impossible to choose between these two giants. I feel blessed to own the two versions. Charlie's version is more piano-oriented but the bass on Elvis' version is priceless. Two highlights on their career. Love them both a lot.

  6. s.... ....

I would love to hear Alicia Keys do this one.

  7. M.... ....

I think Elvis got his version from this by Charlie . Good voice & piano & energy.

  8. A.... S....

    His one cool cat!!!!!!!

  9. j.... s....

wish someone had and could down load my fav Rich LP it was called Sun Records Hits or something. it had my fav version of this song on it.

    j.... s....

This wasn't on Sun! Go home and learn your lesson!

    j.... s....

Charlie started out as a Session musician on Sun ,played piano on a song my friend recorded for Sun..Charlie's 1st hit was on Sun--Lonely Weekends ... Jennifur said it was called Sun Records Hits or something ,she was hoping someone would help her ,not talk down to her ...Tim Darlingboy--be Polite

  10. t.... ....

Elvis was a talentless hack in comparison to Charlie. This man is a magician, Elvis is pretty unoriginal if you ask me.

    t.... ....

    Tell that to Jimmie Rogers

    t.... ....

    No one's asking you!

    t.... ....

I would have to disagree with you.

    t.... ....

Elvis and Charlie started out together, they were friends They both did well ,why not leave it at that?

    t.... ....

Freddy, do you know what a demo is? 21 of those you listed were demos that Elvis listened to and then recorded. Earl Brown sang If I Can Dream for Elvis several times and then Elvis recorded it after many takes.

  11. W.... S....

Remember before Elvis there was nothing ,ELVIS INFLUENCED THE WORLD ,BELIEVE IT OR NOT

    W.... S....

Willie Small WHAT IGNORAMUS SAID THAT?

    W.... S....

Elvis is the best, the world isn't the same without him

    W.... S....

    Eirann LeNormand John Lennon.

  12. M.... C....

Well done. Elvis did it much better though (of course)

    M.... C....

It dont get no better than this

    M.... C....

    No, he didn't...this time...

    M.... C....

The first and best version was done by the great Jimmy Reed in 1960..Recorded by Elvis,Charlie,B.B.King ,Leon Russell and others since then..

    M.... C....

I wish Elvis had focused more in the studio output in 1966-1968. The Jerry Reed Tracks like ‘Big Boss Man’ and ‘Guitar Man’ are killer, and put him back in the spotlight for a little bit in early 1968.

  13. S.... C....

Remember hearing this on NY AM radio in 1963. IMO Charlie Rich did the definitive version of this classic.

  14. A.... A....

I think this is the best version of this song....but I'm sure u all have yr fave...!!!!

    A.... A....

Probably you don't' know the Pretty Things' version then...

  15. J.... W....

He really looks like the Elvis but instead with blond hair, haha

    J.... W....

    Not blonde, grey.

    J.... W....

    Elvis's hair was naturalllly blond.

    J.... W....

    Silver--

  16. H.... W....

Actual fact Iwas playing and then a news flash came through , the date : NOVEMBER 22ND 1963

  17. n.... ....

I'm surprised Jerry Lee didn't cover this.

    n.... ....

@Ry Dy Thanks I will look it up.

  18. E.... M....

    Elvis much?

    E.... M....

Seeing how Elvis didn't record his version until 1967, and Charlie recorded this in 1963... I think you should be saying "Charlie much?" on the Elvis videos.

    E.... M....

    Jimmy Reed

    E.... M....

    Jimmy Reed first--1960

  19. B.... D....
