Reyne, James - Hammerhead Lyrics
Be my ritual
Be my one desire
Be my light be my pure delight
Be my purifier
You'll never know what you do to me
My self destruction you'll over see
Don't go don't go away
Just a touch of you
Just a taste
Like kissing God is what we do
Let's go to waste
You'll never know what you do to me
So sublime
You're like the Devil in Heaven
You've been hanging with the nicest people
Hammerhead
Some silken slip of evil
Hammerhead
Take food from my mouth
Take my sex
Take my friends take my lovers
Here take this
You'll never know what you do to me
Maybe I'm wrong
Let's take this journey together
Please come please come along
Please come please come along
Ooh...

Extra points for the mullet
I remember as a 17 year old kid back in 1987 being totally in love with the model used in this video clip!!!!!
I am feeling much better than this because I fly back to get it
ONJ on backing vocals makes this track.
Heroin .....
so good even today, loved him then love him now....
I love Going back in the past these songs bring joy
Still a classic in 2019 :-) :-) :-) :-)
Mumbles and his mullet , such a huge part of my teenage years .
This song made me kick the habit because sometimes life is a illusion, but u must face the reality!
I just realised James Reyne is our Daryl Hall.
Back in the day when they would sink a few VB's before a film clip
One of my fav 80s songs
Does anybody know the name of the model in the video, she is gorgeous...
It took me more than a decade to find this song that used to play on radio! That time my english was even worst and I heard "in my head" instead of "hammerhead", so my quests always failed. Buy today - OH, TODAY! - I'm here and very glad :)
(I thought the voice was very look alike of the Australian Crawl frontman, searched all the albums, never found anything... and I didn't know James Reyne had a solo career, hence I never looked for this song using his name. My god, why didn't I think of that before? haha...)
It's really a great song, I'm glad you found it after so many years!
wrong white knight sweet hart
Great song! But the only one thing that kept him from superstardom globally, was that you couldn't understand what he was singing. So we made it up as we went along :P
I'm here because Coles was playing it on their radio station. Most enjoyable grocery shop I've had
I vaguely remember this song as a kid being on video hits. I really do love it today 2019 🙂
Seeing this deadset ledge for the second time in four months, can’t get enough.
República Riograndense,Porto Alegre Brasil.
some soup come slipped by me over hammerhead?
Good strine also, the nocce set !
Saw him last week at Caloundra. Still brilliant, still effortlessly cool, still has the best guitar battery in the business. No longer has the best mullet in the business.
Remember watching it on Rage Saturday mornings, didn't know what the song was about lol but I liked it and I still love it now
I think it's about IV drug use. Cocaine or heroin. If you study the lyrics. It seems Hammerhead is a rederence to the blunt needle.
Top 10 Misheard Lyrics
James Reyne, It is a good song!!!
Classic James Reyne.
I would love to show you the lyrics but not even he knows what he's saying himself.
How good is James Reyne. SO underrated, such a brilliant Aussie talent. Blows most overseas out of the water
Would go to the Pier Hotel Frankston Australia and watch these boys live.
Those were the days! Bring back the 70s and 80s.
🌺 Mount Martha Boys.
AUSSIE BANDS WERE AND ARE THE BEST.
I honestly thought he was speaking Spanish..
Fkn love this song listened to it a million times never knew Olivia was a background singer!
Fucking heroin.
Ruins lives.......
Who's the girl in the video? Stunningly beautiful!
3:05 i hate it when that other guy is fake singing it spoils the video
Yes, but what does all that mean? I even got the lyrics decripted and still don't know what this is about.
"...some silken slip of evil..." A sublime lyric.
"I liked it and I understood it and I'm an American."-🤔.🌐🎧🎸🎹🌐.
Is there a version of this song in English?
Saw this guy in concert in the late 80s.
Brilliant.
Anti-drug song, with ONJ doing backup
Still gives me the most intense shivers, absolutely incredible song.
I am totally convinced that Australia has some really talented musicians!
After seeing the girls facial expression towards the end of the clip, I finally worked out what this song is about. A google search for the lyrics confirmed. Very, very good lyrics..
Ahh the 80's..best music, mullets, hypercolor shirts, acid wash jeans..I could go on. Those were the days.
"I liked it and I understood it and I'm an American."-🤔.🌐🎧🎸🎹🌐.
Still gives me the most intense shivers, absolutely incredible song.
Class Act this song!
it's a pity no one could understand what he was saying apparently that's why they didn't make it in the U.S. still ROCKS though ✌💙😎STEV.
While this song first seems to be about a young woman - it's actually about heroin addiction. By the end of the song, she's completely off her face on smack. Follow it through & you will see it.
A great musical theme that should have been better known in other countries. James Reyne turned out to be an excellent singer. I gave with this music looking for information about the actors of "Return to Eden"
Greetings from Argentine!
What is it with people copying the comments of other people? Can you not think for yourself?
Still gives me the most intense shivers, absolutely incredible song.
Good song and backing vocals by Olivia Newton-John - voice of an angel
Masterpiece
Simon Hussey - what a writer. Mr Reyne - what a writer and voice.
I applaud anybody who can understand what he says without the lyrics
What a shame that this kind of raw talent is shoved aside from the pop charts these days.
james reynes best song by far a classic & we get olivia as a bonus Awesome
Good song and backing vocals by Olivia Newton-John - voice of an angel
Nothing like Driving around in my Holden Kommodé and listening to these Classics Loud, and I'm not even an ARSE-STRAAAAYLEAN, been here since Sept 77 though 😁😁😀
Straya,.....love JR
Still gives me the most intense shivers, absolutely incredible song.
James Reyne, it amazing!!!!
Olivia Newton John does the backup vocals at the end of the song
Awesome song , awesome beat , Awesome singer James Reyne !
Let's go to waste.
Brilliant song about addiction.
That's Olivia slinging backup!
What a shame that this kind of raw talent is shoved aside from the pop charts these days.
Absolute legend.
James Reyne has the most unique voice...just beautiful.
How good is James Reyne!
Certainly the Drug of the Time
Some soup gets left by people.... still to this day sing this instead of the real lyric.
You Been hajcunznwodnerpeeple hammerhead
Sumsidjrksnejfnjekpeepele hamerhead

I am totally convinced that Australia has some really talented musicians!

Just a touch of you. Just a taste . . .
You nailed it
Driving in outback in my NSW in Australia in my Commodore in 1988 somewhere near Griffith and this song came on one of the local radio stations out there. It was the middle of summer and it was stinking hot.I always thought how Australian,in the outback, driving a holden and listeneing to James Reyne. When life was simpler and the music was awesome.Rock on James.
Hope you had a spliff in your mouth now that's Australian.
@pino iaconis That's the only thing I had missing.
Um I'm in Griffith ....It's far from the outback . Where the fuck where you
Still great and listening to in 2019
This song is about Heroine abuse isn’t it?
Bob Soxs
Yep.,Hammer is slang for heroin.,
Hammerhead = Smackhead
Heroin was the scourge of the 80’s like Ice is today’s drug of self destruction..
*I adore songs about Heroin Junkies*
2019 🎶🎼🎵????????
Simply Fabulous; ONJ is also great as the backing singer.
Her vocal contribution here is perfectly exquisite.
"Can't wait for the English language version......"
I would have admired this even more back then if I knew what rubbish we'd be dished up in the future
@Ninjamaster77 awesome ✊🏽👌🏽
James is good always been awesome better than todays shit music
So true. I was so caught up in what was/wasn't "cool", now looking back it was all great compared to todays crap.
@bigmaxy07 The talent is still out there but sadly, men in suits don't want to invest in musicians; starving the artist of any commercial success. Imagine someone like Daryl Braithewaite in the top 10 these days, kids would die of laughter. Aesthetics first and talent second is tragically the new world order.
Jim Jam sorry, but you are an imbecile. James Reyne is a legend in his own right.
Hammermullet
Im a hammerhead.
PURE CLASS!
Melbourne, Australia best city in the world
Wish we could have stayed in the 80s forever
youd have got bored...
@the hydronator No way !
@RODS yes way
Your shirt is hangin like the back of your hair.I think that hair was grown in Tassie somewhere
only James could make a mullet look classy
So true. It doesn't look ratty on him haha
Olivia sounds almost a totally different person on the backing vocals. But, that's Livvy - angelic voice no matter what she sings.
Now that there is lyrics i get it great song
lov latin
2019?? Still a favorite for sure!! Modern songs just won't last like this era did. Thank you universal power for my living through the 80s and 90s.
copy that Tom
I was in 93’ but fuck I wish I was an 80, or even 75. I don’t understand how prople born then arent more diverse (in aust), usually squares.
I'm from southern Brazil and this song marked my life, especially my summers. What I never imagined was that she was talking about heroin addiction. I've always lived it as a romantic song. It was music to take attitude and go to the girl. Anyway, it's great music.
🇧🇷2019 ouvindo no Brasil, música boa não envelhece. 🇧🇷
