I love rex and all of his songs so much, this song really gets me

The hook at the end of the chorus is actually really complex, even compared to Rex’s jazzy song writing. I got out of bed this morning and remembered it but couldn’t remember where it was from. I thought it could be some fusion jazz band like snarky puppy or maybe some 90’s R&B like D’Angelo... I looked through almost every Vulfpeck album before realizing it was Rex god dammit. Awesome track!

as a fan of Rex, I love most of his songs including some of the underrated ones and some of the more “popular”(putting popular in quotations since he isn’t really big yet) songs. But this one really butters my biscuit.

It’s the keyboard. It creates dissonance within its self due to the sheer amount of vibrato that it’s set to which, when used correctly, will make a really pleasing contrast. The syncopation in some parts of the song also help by giving it an almost dance type of groove

I disagree. He puts a lot of emotion and heart into his songs but this doesn't necessarily make it R&B. R&B has a certain style to it. Listen to someone like Miguel and you see a huge difference in the overall tone of music.

Michael Flores there are a lot of different r&b styles. Stevie wonder was r&b, but so is Usher.
