Replacements, The - Nobody Lyrics
Heartaches, on your wedding day
Double takes when they look my way
Knees quake, there ain't a shotgun in the place
You like the frosting, you just bought the cake
Your eyes can't fake
And I won't tell nobody
The bridegroom
Drags you 'cross that room
Said I do
But honey you were just a kid
Your eyes said I did
Still in love with nobody
Nobody, nobody
And I won't tell nobody
Take a look
On your wedding night
In your wedding book
See what name I signed
Hey
Love nobody,
Nobody, nobody
Then nobody
Nobody, nobody, nobody
Hips shake
To the band for old time's sake
Now you make your getaway
And you're waving to the stage
But on the last page says
Love nobody
Nobody, nobody
And I won't tell nobody
Nobody, nobody
Yeah you're still in love with nobody
Nobody, nobody
And I used to be nobody
Nobody, nobody
Not anymore

Replacements, The Nobody Comments
I want to make this the most popular song of 2020
Brilliance, beyond brilliance... But, that’s the least you could expect from St. Paul ....
Best song from All Shook Down , should have made either a thumb your nose video or better yet a clever great one
So what name did he sign in the wedding book?
Nobody. Westerbergs songwriting is so
"Nobody"
incredible
lyrics make so much sense to me love it
Very catchy tune .... but the lyrics don't mean that much to me

I was quite literally "Nobody". I was invited to and attended an ex-girlfriend's wedding. It was a bittersweet kind of weird. Several months later, she had to leave our still-shared place of work. She was pretty much: All shook down.
This song could have been the soundtrack of my life in 1997! Still in love with "Nobody" and you used to be Nobody!
I didn't know this was here. One of the classics of one of my few favorite 80's bands.
Still in love with nobody. And I won't tell nobody.
love this song, but this particular upload is a mess. listen to snare in Left speaker come in and out. It's not the mix.
I agree that I hear some Jeff Tweedy in the vocals but that just shows how influential or how good Mats music is. Tweedy was still playin Kiss covers when Paul and co. started singing and playin this way
if paul w. was nobody, i'd be in love with nobody too :)
me too....well kinda. i liked 2 of there songs before.
just found them on Song Pop lol
I think you mean that the other way around...
Just Discovered these guys on facebook and they sound alot like Wilco to me
i brought this album with me to college and listened to it constantly, year of '91. they were the shit!
Pure genius
Never a more brilliant declaration of 'what might have been' whilst watching someone you love make a huge mistake x
The first time I heard this, both my feet kept tapping ...then the rest of me joined the tapping ... LOL
(reminds of Rod's style and songs like 'You wear it well' )
"And you're still in love with nobody... and I used to be nobody".
More emotion in that one line than some bands manage in a whole album, just awesome.
I agree. Brilliant. Thoughtful. The combination of the lyrics, the acoustic guitar, the bass line, Slim Dunlap's solo and Westerberg's vocal delivery...well. I don't have enough good words in my vocabulary to describe it.
This is the one Replacements album I didn't listen to obsessively like SMFTTOTT, Hootenanny, LIB, Tim, PTMM. I hear this stuff and YouTube am I am floored by how good it is and it holds up. "Love nobody and I won't tell nobody, ya still in love with nobody, I used to be nobody, but not anymore." Brilliant. Time passes... been there, done that.
i was given 12 random cassetes for my old truck............ this is the only one i played in it for a whole year.......threw the rest out
@MrBuc128
It's in A maj. So the verse is A-D-E, with a G as the change, then G-F# before the chorus. Chorus is B-D and the bridge is G-F (the rising bit is then A#-C-D. It's a little tricky to explain, just play around with those until you get it.
I would love to get the title track to this album. "All shook down" I love that song.

Yep. Good catch, I was lazy and didn't look it up to make sure. Memory isn't so good any more. 1990.
Can anyone tell what the the chords for this sog are I can't find them online anywhere. This is an Incredible album
lol, Yeah it should probably read 'ain't' nobody at the end. But he makes it work anyways.
