Replacements, The - If Only You Were Lonely Lyrics

Well, I walked out of work
And I was tired as hell
Another day's come and gone and oh well
Somewhere there's a drink with my name on it

Well, I ordered a Scotch as I bust through them doors
Spilled half on my jeans
The other half on the floor
When I saw you standing by that video game

Well, I ain't very good
But I get practice by myself
Forgot my one line
So I just said what I felt

If only you were lonely
If only you was lonely too
If only you was lonely
I'd go home with you

Twenty push-ups this morning, that was half of my goal
Tonight I'll be doin' pull-ups
On the tolilet bowl
And somewhere somebody's throwin' up

Well, I broke the seal on my door
And I poured myself to bed
The whirlpool spinning around in my head
Around in my head
There was liquor on my breath
And you were on my mind

And I'll be dreamin' of that smile
Without a care in the world
If only you were lonely
If only you was lonely too
If only you was lonely

I walked out of the kitchen
I was tired as hell
Another day's here and oh well
Somewhere there's a smile with my name on it

Yeah. I try to remember that somewhere there's a smile with my name on it. I saw her standing by some jeanjackets. Even if people try to act like its really the Replacements, when Bobby ain't even there. Paul touring as the Replacements without Bobby is not the Replacements. Sorry dick

"...pullups on the toilet bowl." Paul Westerberg, you mad, accurate genius, you! Wonderful ballad.

    Never sold out

    R.... W....

Robert Ward uh... Don't Tell a Soul...

    R.... W....

Was literally about to say that.

    "Don't tell a soul"

The very definition of too little too late.

  13. P.... W....

Best American band of the 80's for sure. Mopped the floor with groups like REM and 10.000 Maniacs. Considering how vapid American culture became in the 80's it's almost a badge of honor to not have been commercially successful then!

    P.... W....

    husker du!
    and peter perrett of course

    P.... W....

Far less vapid than US Culture in the 90s.

    P.... W....

    Perrett isnt American tho

    P.... W....

Great band , but REM and the Maniacs were also fucking great . Behave.

  14. P.... J....

Paul Westerbeg is a genius. The Replacements should have been so massive. Dodgy record company? management? or just dumb yanks? though seems like people are catching up with them . Shame that Tommy has to pay the bills by playing with crazy lame Axl. Still.....so what.

    P.... J....

Poor timing, bad choices of singles i.e. "The Ledge" as a single for PTMM instead of "Can't Hardly Wait"?!?!? and then those gratuitous self inflicted wounds...

    P.... J....

Read the book Trouble Boys detailing The Replacements career, they shot themselves in the foot every chance they got when it came to commercial success. Paul Westerberg would write beautiful songs like this, but would often be too drunk to put on a coherent show, that went for most of the band members actually.

    P.... J....

Cap'n Carny The Ledge is an excellent song

If someone ever said the replacements sucked I might choke them to death.
That is a written statement. I stand by it

    U.... ....

    This comment rips!

    U.... ....

    UTF what about Stink?

    U.... ....

They sucked when I saw them in Ann Arbor in '85 or '86. That's a written statement. I stand by it. I was drunk, but not as drunk as Bob, so I didn't mind, at least not much. Paul and Tommy decided to replace him after that fiasco.

    U.... ....

Yeah Tommy used kicking his own brother out of the band as proof he was tough. I think he got tired of playing "Scooby Doo, where are you" on stage while their manager searched for drunk Bob in the local bars.

  16. j.... ....

    that's gut-wrenchingly good art.
