REO Speedwagon - 157 Riverside Avenue Lyrics
We flew into town on Sunday, had to find a place by Monday
Tried Bridgeport and Westport, 'til we found a place that we thought would do
157 Riverside Avenue.
Saugatuck River's flowin', Mother nature's colors were showin'
So cold, so rainy, we couldn't help feelin' blue
We met a young girl on Main street, wanted to just pass her by
She was homely, so lonely, She said, "Can I make love to you."
We shouted 157 Riverside Avenue.
It's over, Miss Lena, we're leaving. Such a pleasant stay, I must say.
So nice, so easy, we hate to say goodbye to you
At 157 Riverside Avenue.

One of my favorite REO songs!
AMAZEBALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best sound quality video I may have ever heard here. Well done there....
yes the version you don't hear much. My personal favorite.
They were an awesome live show. I voted for Gary as guitarist of the year when Steve Howe of Yes was selected.
Back when they were great!
Once a great Ass kicking jam always a great Ass Kicking jam.
Oh yeah the good ole days, not a care in the world, partyying REO
fucking classic
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Someone wrote back about my comment that Kevin's scat singing was "a bit over the top". I promise I didn't mean that in any bad way. Kevin, Gary and the rest of the band from the late 70s - early 80s absolutely killed it in every way. What a great band! I really love these songs!
RIP Gary
EdgarSquires, I totally agree!
KILLER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
R&R at its finest
157 Riverside Ave is a real address in Riverside, Ill which is 15 minutes west of Chicago, Ill. I had my 1977 Special Edion Z28 Camaro white with 2 fat black racing stripes, Creggar wheels and a Guest shifter. I loved that freakin' car still do!!!! Nope sorry it ain't for sale LOL
really the best song (version) from reo speedwagon.
RIP Gary
Awesome. Takes me back to a better time. Was lucky enough to have seen them live. Gary just rocks the guitar...
RIP GARY..
Rest In Peace Gary. This will always put a smile on my face.
Gary passed away today...I saw him many times. So, so under rated...he could make that thing scream. Rest in peace pal.
rip gary ...... loved your playing
Sad to here that Gary passed away recently 9/2015. I got to see this tour in 1976..
I went straight to this when I heard Gary Richrath had passed away. This version was played all the time by WDVE in Pittsburgh in the early 80's. One of my earliest favorite rock songs when I was transitioning from being a kid to an early teen. Mainly due to Gary Richrath's Guitar playing. RIP Gary Richrath...........
RIP Gary
remember going out to the barn to milk in the morn and making the cows jam with me to this album lol
R.I.P. Gary RichRath. 2015 - 9 - 13
WISH THEY COULD VE STAYED THAT WAY 4 EVER
the foundations of bass that I play today!
one of the top 10 songs EVER!!!!!!!!
The one they preformed in Tokyo sounds better.
La mejor versión
This is by far the best version of this song! We spent some time searching for this version. Thanks for the post! ; )
"What do you want to do when you grow up?"
" I'm gonna make lots of money to stand up on stage and go 'doodle doodle doodle bipta bip doodle' for millions of screaming women."
"Have you ever thought about being an auto mechanic?"
1 of many favorites they did! These guys tore it up! So many great memories come rushing back. I was fortunate enough to see them live 3 times. Thanks for posting!
Where is the boogie woogie piano intro??
mine too !!!
late nights and long gravel roads
Missed the concert in 79 cause my ex. girlfriends dad wouldnt let her go.
mom had this 2 record set when i was 10.. in 1980...still kicks you know what!!!
I love this album!
Ahhh. Listening to this takes me back to sophomore year in high school and many, and I mean many crazy drunken " Kegger " parties in yhe desert outside of Phoenix Az where I grew up
Oh Kevin!!!!!! You rule REO!!!!!!!
Thank you, Julio!! I can't even count the number of times I've listened to "Decade," especially the "Cow" tracks forward. "I had a big ole' glass of my favorite wine in one hand, and a big ole' 'J' I was toking off of in the other..." CLASSIC!!
I'm sorry but I hate this song. The original is a very good song but about 4 minutes in it goes from being tolerable to storytelling with guitar in the background.
<3 THIS WAS A AWESOME CONCERT
the 70's
Just heard this on the radio where I live. Love at first listen!
ridin in jeep,,govt mountain land,,shine n wine,,need we go further
wayyy cool.
This is the version that's a little hard to find. Kevin's scat singing is a little over the top, but the interaction with Gary is the best. And Gary is so awesome. Truth is that Gary is one of the most underrated guitarists ever. That dude can play!!!!
