R.E.M. - Perfect Circle Lyrics
Put your hair back, we get to leave
Eleven gallows on your sleeve
Shallow figure, winner's paid
Eleven shadows way out of place
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Pull your dress on and stay real close
Who might leave you where I left off
A perfect circle of acquaintances and friends
Drink another, coin a phrase
Heaven assumed, shoulders high in the room
Heaven assumed, shoulders high in the room
Try to win and suit your needs
Speak out sometimes but try to win
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room
Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room

R.E.M. Perfect Circle Comments
these days young people (which im one of) listen to tame impala and think thats the cats ass.. they have no idea how good and pure music can be.. sad idiots
fk ggle and their stupid cmmercials
I only like few rem songs and this one has a beautiful tune.
Bill Berry really felt like the true beating heart of R.E.M. I adore young Michael's voice here... but this song makes me appreciate Bill Berry's voice (metaphorically) underneath Michael's.
This is “that REM song playing in [his] mind” in Better Than Ezra’s song “A Lifetime”. Both beautiful.
In the late 80s, I remember seeing them sing this at the now demolished Cap Center in DC as they sang/read from music stands. Awesome
Who might leave you where I left off. That line alone brings tears
also a perfect song...
Amazing debut album!
perfect song for all time - classico
Classic hypnotic track from their brilliant debut album.
REM will be rediscovered by a new generation! What a lovely song!
what a beautiful song, bigger than sadness <3
"murmur" is the best album of all-time
Automatic
Honestly this could have been a huge hit that chorus though
A perfect circle of acquaintances and friends.
Mid '80s, mid 20s, I 'member REM on the hang out bar juke box. It never got my quarter dollar coin, REM was cool but not my thing. This song tho, first time hearing only recently. It is a piece of art.
Listen to all of "Murmur" and "Reckoning" then. More gems. They were the double-LP R.E.M. never made.
Patrimonio de la humanidad
On the headphones, the snare glides from one side to the other, making a circle like motion in my head
This whole song is just poetic
Beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful
❤️❤️
By far my favorite rem song, and one of the most subtle and yet powerful songs I can recall... Exceptional.
Who might leave you where I left off, I'm 42 now and the first time I heard this I was 13 and that simple lyric still gets to me as it did when I was so young.
I never got these this guy's lyrics. Still like a whole lotta their stuff but ... just saying.
Wonderful song.
No dislikes so far, as it must be.
Love this song.. Gonna dislike it just cuz..😁

I think it's "standing two slim shoulders high in the wind" - maybe room
Wouldn't that make more sense?
And yes, I've listened to this song hundreds of times since it was released on Chronic Town, my freshman year at the University of Georgia, 1982.
No need to repeat "Standing too soon, shoulders high in the room" so many times.
Thanks ❤️🙏
We love you bill berry
The true genius behind this and many R.E.M. songs.
@J. Niimi ..and they were never the same after he left...hmm
@J. Niimi right you are!
Am I the only one who gets emotional during this song?
First time hearing it, didn't feel anything. Music is like that I guess.
no, it's a wonderful song! where are the views?
Amazing song. This was my first dance song at my wedding. I’m from Athens so it is especially poignant. Can’t explain....
No way.
best track.
Are you the dude from Antifa Hotline?
Fellow Phish fan
