Wow....I grew up listening to this thinking the whole time MM was a scary man that will condemn you to hell if you listened to him and that was something you should stay away from. Now as a young adult, MM is all I listen to...and its like he says, "If they think an artist can destroy their faith, then their faith is rather fragile"

This is a classic Christian fallacy. They assume that certain 3rd party stimuli has undue influence on a Christian, thus converting them to their cause. When in reality, there is probably a mixture of factors that put doubt in somebody's might about organized religion, thus freeing them up to do the thing in question. Maybe they should make a song about Neil Degrass Tyson of Steven Hawking encouraging children to think independently and rely on scientific inquiry and the scientific method to make decisions, instead of unproven dogma from Abrahamic religions.

I think people are misunderstanding this song. It's not REALLY about Marilyn Manson, but Marilyn Manson's image represented anti-Christianity, and this is just a song about Matt losing someone because that someone lost their Christianity. That's how I view it.

Matt was 15 when he wrote this. His friend was Christian, but turned away when she started listening to Marilyn Manson and 9 Inch Nails. This was his way of coping. It isn't directed to Marilyn Manson, but more the message of the world (secular music) stealing away Christians who look towards the world not God
