Reed, Lou - Berlin Lyrics

In Berlin, by the wall
you were five foot ten inches tall
It was very nice
candlelight and Dubonnet on ice

We were in a small cafe
you could hear the guitars play
It was very nice
it was paradise

You're right and I'm wrong
hey babe, I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone
One sweet day

Oh, you're right and I'm wrong
you know I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone
One sweet day
One sweet day

In a small, small cafe
we could hear the guitars play
It was very nice
candlelight and Dubonnet on ice

Don't forget, hire a vet
he hasn't had that much fun yet
It was very nice
hey honey, it was paradise

You're right and I'm wrong
oh babe, I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone
One sweet day
You're right, oh, and I'm wrong
you know I'm gonna miss you now that you're gone
One sweet day
One sweet day

One sweet day, one sweet day
oh, one sweet day
One sweet day, baby-baby, one sweet day
one sweet day, one sweet day

I am in Berlin and totally drunk. Only thing in my brain is this song. I am in love with this city.

    N.... D....

Berlin is simply lovely, like a mature woman with her wrinkles and scars...a beauty that is not for anyone to appreciate heartfully...think you need to bear your wrinkles and scars as well to see that beauty

  5. R.... J....

The amazing thing is many critics and 'music' people (even fans)considered this album a 'flop' and not good etc etc when I finally listened to it I was blown away how much I liked it and how great it really is. Its actually some of Lou's best songwriting

it seems like david bowie... this is glam rock...

    a.... b....

Recorded at London’s Morgan Studios with a crack session group of U.K. musicians lead by Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman of Yes, the more professionally crafted revisions of such beloved VU fare as “Lisa Says”, “Ride Into the Sun” and “Ocean” make for highly enjoyable listens.

    a.... b....

he produced transformer albu for Lou, and they were close friends so he was influenced by him.

    a.... b....

Shit... Guy was far from glamorous. Many call him a progenitor of punk, but the man was simply a poet. Pure n simple.

    a.... b....

a poet about trash and beauty (:

  31. a.... a....

    Este gajo é um gênio....

  32. O.... M....

    it was paradise

  33. R.... P....

I heard this album wasnt much good, but I like this. Worth getting?

    R.... P....

It's not as good as some of his other albums, but lisa says and berlin are certainly gems, and overall yeah its a good album you should get it (if you havent already- i know its been two months)

    R.... P....

+lizzy grant (REDPARTYDRESS) I love you is also a great song. always puts a smile to my face

    R.... P....

@Ruby Night I thought you were saying you loved me until i realised you meant the song lol. Yeah that song is great too

    R.... P....

It was ranked 344 or something like that in Rolling Stones Top 500 albums of ALL time. :)

    R.... P....

  41. .... ....

    so much emotion

  42. G.... L....

I totally love this recording and thank Bob Ezrin et al for making it happen.  Lou Reed and Bob Ezrin - what a pair!  The songwriting was the best, musicians were the best, the engineers were the best and the studio is still legendary.  What most people don't know is that Bob nearly died producing this epic.  Thankfully, he survived to give us much, much more beauty.  Thanks Bob and thanks Lou.

    G.... L....

@Gerry Lyon This version of Berlin song was included in Lou Reed's eponymous first album released in 1972, one year earlier than the Berlin album version.

    arte,,,, semplicemente arte.....

  46. b.... ....

I really like this version even though it features Les Hurdle on bass instead of Jack Bruce.

  47. A.... S....

The thing as a musician i envy in Lou Reed asside from his natural geniality is his hability to expose his core without concern for what people think.

    A.... S....

+Alexandre Silva Yes. He takes control of his creative being by going to his essence.

    A.... S....
