True. I had just moved into the R&B space in '56 lovin' everything. Not ALOT of Jimmy on our R&B station (KDIA) but we took what we could get.

If you listen closely, you can hear Mama Reed telling Jimmy Reed the lyrics right before he sings them. Great tune!

This reminds me of WMBM AM, 1490 on the dial, Miami, FL which would play all these great R&B tunes when I was there in the 1960's as well as some pop R&R. (Tossin' and Turnin', Rama Lama Ding Dong, Sally Go Round the Roses, etc). I wonder if it still exists?

My husband turned me on to jimmy reed almost twenty years ago and I've loved him ever since. Its bittersweet listening to him now...2 months ago I lost my husband ....he was hit by a car. But when I listen to JR it takes me to happy times we shared together . R.I.P Carlos... You are the love of my life and I'm lost without you.

The first song by Jimmy Reed I ever heard was "Big Boss Man", I was awed by it and have been a J R fan ever since.

First one I heard was "Can't Stand To See You Go" - over WLAC late at night. Became an instant JR fan for life.

Elvis and Charlie Rich both did it well but can't touch Mr Reed's original

@carstenen Yep, the lucky one. A child just responds to the music that touches him. I remember getting chills when the song "Baby What yYou Want Me To Do" would start and the bass would kick in. Power!

This is a message to high school guys who like this music.Myself and another blues lover invented the "Reed Party back in 1957 in Tulsa,Ok.You get a cooler full of beer, a neon beer sign (bars sometimes give them away) and several Jimmy Reed records like "You got me dizzy".When your parents are gone for the evening.Please carry on this tradition for us,you will be glad you did.
