Reed, Jimmy - Tell The World I Do Lyrics

C'mon baby, tell me what you puttin' down
C'mon in this house woman, just tell me what you're puttin' down
Oh then now, I won't have to be run 'round here babe, a with my face all but a frown

Ya know I love you, an' honey, I'll tell the world I do
You know I love ya baby, and girl I'll tell the world I do
A well now the only thing is worryin' me baby, I want to know, do you love me?

One of these days, baby, you'll find out just how much I love you
One of these days, baby, you'll find out just how much Jimmy love you
A then you're gonna have to figure it out for yourself, baby and tell me what you want to do

  4. m.... v....

    awesome

  5. M.... P....

By the way... This is Mistys girlfriend Chenina Long.

  6. M.... P....

I love him! I'm a white girl but my daddy sang the the blues. My daddy was a drummer and sang jimmy at the same time. I'm a guitarist and singer and song writer and I did a lot of jimmy onstage. I was kicked out of one place for a jimmy song I sang!

  7. C.... T....

    Great Blues Man!.....MAGIC!

  8. p.... h....

Definitely my favorite blues singer. Amusing but sincere and spontaneous and very personal. And what a funky sound with Jimmy's harp and Eddie Taylor's guitar.

    p.... h....

Not to mention the drummer who is really good. Charlie Watts copied him a lot.

    p.... h....

That's right! The drumming was very important on all JImmy's recordings.

  9. L.... ....

My favorite Jimmy Reed was "No Good Woman" and "No Good Man" that was on jukebox in 1963 but I have never been able to find it anywhere else. If any one has these two songs please put them on YouTube!

  10. M.... ....

    Nice.  Very Nice.

  11. t.... ....

what harmonica key is this? does anybody know..please...

    t.... ....

A harp played in the key of E - second position.

    t.... ....

Jimmy played mostly second position in E or A. Once in a while even in F. Of course he played in first position sometimes too - especially the high shrill notes on some recordings.

    t.... ....

Bob Aldo Well, he mostly did second in E and first in A; he is widely known for the latter. I’ve rarely heard - if ever - JR doing second in the key of A (i.e. use a D harp).

  12. G.... B....

I agree with everything you say except the drunk part. It is my understanding he suffered from a brain disease which often made him appear drunk. Late in his recording career he had his wife in the studio to remind him of the lyrics.

    G.... B....

    Geoff Bilson

It's on record he was an alcoholic, which didn't help the epilepsy he had.

    G.... B....

Yes he was an alcoholic, but it wasn't long after he quit drinking that he suffered the seizure that killed him. You have to wonder if somehow the alcohol had been preventing the attacks?

  13. m.... y....

    Great!!!!!!!!!!

  14. S.... ....

How about Randy;s Record Shop in Galatin, TN. Also advertised on the super stations incl WDIA. I visited the shop in the 80s.

  15. j.... p....

That's how winning is done ~ my one gold fish heard this cut ..and now he's a shark

  16. a.... ....

One of Jimmy's best! Don't forget the great Eddie Taylor, Jimmy's guitar mentor who tried, along with Mama Reed, to keep Jimmy on the straight and narrow!

    a.... ....

Right! Eddie Taylor was as responsible for the great Jimmy Reed records as Jimmy himself. The subtlety of these recordings goes right over most people's heads. But it is that perfect simplicity and subtlety that makes real blues feeling.
(Seeing how many notes some guitarist can run off in a few seconds is not blues. It is bull shit.)

  17. R.... L....

Look what he did with it EE...............sold millions and was loved by everybody!

  18. E.... E....

    E A B7 Typical Blues Progression.

  19. K.... Z....

Had no idea why, but this cat turned me on to the low, down, dirty blues...today, I know it was because it was so simple and pure...love his music today as much as I did when I first heard him in the 1960's.

  20. l.... ....

First heard this man's great music in the 50's 60's WLAC Nashville Hoss Man Allen was the DJ ..Great time's back then The radio would fade in and out But we would listen intently Also Lightning Slim Rooster Blue's

    l.... ....

    RAY Charles what I say?

  21. j.... ....

@Dbanuelos2008 It's a 12 bar blues & the chord sequence is what's known as a 1, 4 & 5. That means you count 4 letters from whatever key you start in for the 4 chord and 5 for the 5. So this one sounds like it starts in E, so its E for the 1 chord, then A for the 4 chord, then B for the 5 chord. There are 4 beats to each bar (or measure), so you can count: 1 and a 2 and a 3 and a 4 for each bar.
    The 12 bars are as follows: bar 1 is e, then 2a 3e 4e 5a 6a 7e 8e 9b 10a 11e 12b, hope this helps

    j.... ....

Once the blues becomes muscle memory it is best not to think too much about it.

  22. D.... B....

    chords to this song anyone?

  23. M.... L....

IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT CAN REMEMBER ERNIES RECORD SHOP NASHVILLE TENNESSE. FROM 6-12 EVERY NIGHT. THAT'S WHERE I FIRST HEARD THE BLUES, AND I GOT HOOKE. I LOVED JIMMY REEDS MUSIC EVER SINCE THEN, AND ALL THE OTHER BLUES I HEARD ON ERNIES RECORD SHOP.

    M.... L....

I believe Ernie's was on 3rd ave North in Nashville. I think the street address was 177 or 179, I can't remember right now. I bought many 45;'s from Ernie's in Nashville and also from Randy's Record Shop in Gallatin Tenn. I remember when they would package several blues 45's together as a special, and call it things like "The Fire Ball Blues Special". Jimmy, Muddy, Walter, Lightnin' Slim, Lazy Lester, Sonny Boy Williamson, Howlin' Wolf, Lonesome Sundown, etc. etc.

  24. B.... ....

Oh,,, Dear God,,, Please take care of this man, and thank

  26. t.... ....

I've been a very big fan of Jimmy Reed since about 1954. One of the greatest blues singers, harp players, and writers, of all time. I only got to see him one time, in the early '70s, and he was just as great as when he was recording these songs in the '50s.

  27. T.... ....

When I close my eyes and hear this I can JUST HEAR ole John R on WLAC introducing this song. Ole John R way down south in DIXIE on WLAC the voice of the Life&Casualty Insurance Company in NASHVILLE,TENN the 1510 spot on your radio dial. OH YEAH !!!
