Reed, Jimmy - High And Lonesome Lyrics
High and lonesome, be on your merry way
High and lonesome, be on your merry way
Well now, you're back a-wanting me and I'm not gonna let you stay
Well now, ya went 'round the corner, now
Still gonna meet me you just, waitin' 'til noon
I'm high and lonesome
Be on your merry way
Well now, you packed up, want to leave me
And I'm not gonna let you stay
Well now, tell me, tell me baby, now now
What's wrong with you?
Don't treat me darlin', like you, like you used to do
I'm high and lonesome
Be on your merry way
Well now, you're packed up want to leave me
And I'm not gonna let you stay

Reed, Jimmy High And Lonesome Comments
So good ! I perform H&L with the band I'm in ( The Cliffnotes ) . Play harp and sing . I throw in a few more high bends . The genius of Jimmy Reed songs is how adaptable they are for almost every player's interpretation, yet are met with favor and popularity by listeners
😊😊😊
He protecc
He attacc
But most importantly..
He give that guitar a wacc!
Too tough! 👌
It's all here, from the outset
Hell of a first single.
Comrade Thoth Rolling Run was the B side an instrumental.
In an interview in 2016 in Guitarworld, Billy Gibbons said that this song was the one that made him want to pick up the guitar in the first place. Anything by Jimmy Reed, really, he said.
Classic
Every note a classic.
going straight to my mega blues playlist 8)
It's too old to reply directly to, but in response to Ray Pellerin's comment about this being a Stones record ahead of its time, they haven't made this record yet, and by 1978 they quit trying. Not that their subsequent records were bad or all bad--they just didn't attempt this kind of thing anymore.
Stones started out as a blues cover band. They evolved no question but so did many artists in the time.
They did "Little Rain" on their Blue And Lonesome LP pretty recently.
Big Smile on my Face.
@Ray Pellerin, actually, The Rolling Stones acknowledged their debt to Jimmy Reed in several interviews.
You are right about that. Jim Morrison was a Reed fan too. My dad had a Jimmy record. I played it to death. This song's B side was rolling run. Wish I had that record.
Good song from Jimmy Reed. Traditional blues at its best.
E' la più bella !!!
are you!!!! yikes ..G:-))
No dislikes- I call that justice!
Two cloth-eared dills have been here since you wrote this.
I see 17 👎🏻I however gave it 👍🏻
For me, this is Reed's best song!
@LarryRickenbacker I agree.
It defines him for sure. I love honest basic music with a mistake or two over over produced music.
Haven't most of us been High and Lonesome. love this
So very good!!!!!!! When i first heard this way back when I was 17, I was "blown-up"!!!!!!
Love this song Jimmy Reed was way ahead of his time. It is like an early Rolling Stones Album but over ten years before the Stones.
Great! Thanks!
