Reed, Jerry - Don't Think Twice, It's All Right Lyrics

Son ain't no use to sit and wonder why babe
Cause it don't matter anyhow
Ain't no use to sit and wonder why babe
Not if you don't know by now

When you're hearin' that rooster crowin' at the crack of dawn
Take a peek out your window woman and this old boy is gone
And you're the reason I'm a travelin' on
So baby don't think twice it's all right

Headin' down a long lonesome road babe
Where I'm bound I just can't tell
But adios is just too good a word babe
So I'll just say fare thee well

I don't mean to tell you that you been unkind
But you been a wastin' all my valuated time
You're the reason this old boy don't walk the line
So baby don't think twice it's all right
Well alright

Yeah there ain't no use in turnin' on your light babe
Cause I ain't your brother
Ain't no use in turnin' on your light babe
I'm blind in one eye can't see outta the other

I don't need to tell you that you been unkind
That you been messin' up my valuable time
And you're the reason this old boy don't walk the line
So baby don't think twice it's all right
Baby don't think twice it's all right
It's all right son

He was great none of the players in Nashville now can touch him . he played in different tunings was a real pro and genius. And was a natural actor played in alot of different roles and could do them well. There is no talent in Nashville like that anymore.

  10. C.... W....

One of my most favorite Bob Dylan tunes and absolutely love this version from Jerry!

I need to see the words to this song.

  16. E.... M....

Just listen to that fantastic guitar playing and singing too. He never thought of himself as a singer but he had a great baritone voice. You will never hear a guitar player as fantastic as Jerry Reed - He is the best there ever was.

  17. P.... H....

    I've ALWAYS loved Jerry Reed!

What makes all the greats so great.... Is the fact they had no Egos and they all had their tongues in their cheeks because they knew it was just Showbiz it was just entertainment. Nobody on Hee Haw was trying to outdo anybody else or prove a point they were all just having fun doing what they love to do and entertaining people. If you've never heard Buck Owens cover Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water give it a listen. The guy didn't have art Garfunkel's range but he sure still had the passion. And for all those Hard Rock and metal Fanatics out there that think their Guitar gods are the greatest of all time...... The most awesome shredders that have ever lived...... Mr. Roy Clark could play rings around them any day of the week.

  26. B.... S....

He was an awesome talent ! Who wouldn't want to play the guitar like him ? He could tear up a telecaster, too. He was also relatively humble about his enormous musical talent.

  27. C.... J....

definitely a man ahead of his time, one of the greatest guitar players and songwriters ever

  28. S.... W....

    Hall of Famer.

  29. R.... H....

1000 of these views were me. This song is so great 👏👏👏

    R.... H....

Rhianna Humphries because your taste is straight awesome

    R.... H....

One of my dad's favourites. Brings a tear to my eye. We wore out this l.p. down in the rec room between about 1973 and leaving for university in 1980.

    R.... H....

ur great too. this songs greater. im the greatest ahahaha

  30. A.... S....

    pick it son

  31. N.... U....

    BOB DYLAN :-)

  32. M.... C....

How do you not love Jerry Reed? Fingerstyle legend, and just a natural, charismatic dude. Few men cooler than this cat. R.I.P.

    M.... C....

    very true

    M.... C....

    you fukken druggo

    M.... C....

damn straight Cruiser his style hunting fishing drinking gambling fighting singing yes he was
Made of men I admire and please tell me can you ever get a better person to interview his accent and slang oozzess Cool and as he would say “Son” trademark Jerry Reed

  33. M.... B....

I like Bob Dylan, but something about Jerry Reed is just natural.

    M.... B....

    I know right

    M.... B....

    exactly my feelings

    M.... B....

@Max Black -- Yes, it's great, and I love Jerry Reed, but you are not giving props to Dylan. I mean, man, the guy wrote this incredible song. Jerry could not do this without Bob, Bob could do it without Jerry.

    M.... B....

    BOB COULD NOT SING!

    M.... B....

@donn409 he sounds like a cat in a blender. Good songwriter but that's it

  34. N.... C....

Anyone know where I can find this digitally? No one seems to have it!

    N.... C....

Yea, I already have it on vinyl, but I hoped to put it on my iPod!

    N.... C....

    Rip it!

  35. J.... D....

Not a fan of Dylan as a performer - he just sounds constipated.
However my two favourite cover versions are this one and "all along the watchtower" - both by guitar maestros.
    Thanks Jerry

    J.... D....

Jerry was a big Dylan fan. Very few Nashville country entertainers liked Dylan. But Jerry was one who did.

  36. s.... ....

Intro is goe nete in the pakke

    s.... ....

    @sigurd2498 Zeker!

  37. H.... J....

I'm going to build something and dedicate it to Jerry Reed. I love you Jerry and when I end up in Heaven I want to come by listen to this song with you in Heaven!

  38. A.... W....

Jerry had a neat style..and if you'll notice on all of his instrumentals he gave credit to the back up people..calling them out to play.  He was not an egotist...probably why
he doesn't get proper recognition.  Waylon gave it to him, though

  39. R.... ....

Yeah ole Jerry Reed had his own style, in singing his songs!!!!!

  40. L.... W....

No other great guitarist had a voice like Jerry Reed. Imagine Eddie Van Halen trying to sing like this.

    L.... W....

You're right, he was the full package.

  41. D.... ....

This is my fave Jerry song and Jerry has a lot of great songs!

  42. D.... ....

Jerry's verison is my fave with Waylon's version being my 2nd fave.

  43. T.... P....

Been listening to covers all evening. Most everyone just sounds so damn happy. Not that it's a bad thing, I just find it a little odd to hear this wonderful wonderful consistantly played upbeatly.

  44. T.... D....

Some like it more melancholic you know

  45. J.... B....

I love Jerry Reed but Bob Dylan's original when he was 21 and accompanied himself on guitar and harmonica (and wrote it of course) is the best.

  46. S.... ....

I remember when Jerry Reed was on Scoby Doo!

    S.... ....

    Yea that was great

  47. A.... J....

I agree, although I do think Bob's is more fitting of the actual lyrical content. maybe this is a little jivey for the actual feel of the lyircs. But thats Jerry for ya, you can't hold down a happy man!

  48. R.... R....

loooove this! Remember it well my dad playing the album over and over ...

  49. 1.... ....

The Chet Atkins live version with Terry McMillan on harp is a beautiful rendition in and of itself. Definitely worth checking out.

  50. p.... ....

This is good, but Dylan's original Freewheelin' version is the best I've ever heard.

  51. D.... D....

One of the best songs ever. Try listening to Peter Paul and Mary's version (live). I think you'll like it.

  52. j.... ....

he took pickin' and made it a kind of jazz or is it gospel, blues or r&b country

  53. t.... g....

got to love Jerry Reed he can take a good song and make it better ...... i call Jerry's music country funk or crunk

  54. A.... A....

@breakyournails I agree. Each one has its goodness. That is what makes music so magnetic and spiritual. It goes with the feeling of the artist. Sometimes life is upful sometimes its a downer...But Its Alright!

  55. A.... A....

    Tha bass ain't bad either

  56. b.... ....

I still think Dylan's is better, only because I think it expresses more relatable emotion, but I really really like this one too. It is completely different, though, so it's hard to compare, I guess.

  57. P.... H....

Wow, really didn't expect to like this. . . but I do. I love Dylan's version, but this has its own pizazz. Very cool.

  58. M.... ....

I think I'm responsible for at least 100 of the times this one has been viewed. The world is worse off for having lost Jerry Reed.

  59. R.... S....

    @allboss23 It's a Bob Dylan cover....

  60. M.... R....

    @ncbloom yup, nice!

  61. T.... ....

@jack34695 check out doc and merle watson's version. its here on youtube. i dont think the song title is in the listing. its with michael coleman and its live in ohio

  62. D.... T....

Up till now Waylon Jennings' version was my favorite, now I'll never be able to hear it without hearing Jerry's runs in my head.

  63. f.... ....

Completely Agree! Reed was the man!

  64. M.... R....

Who else thinks that this version kicks Dylan's original's butt? This is the only version of this song I've ever liked.

    M.... R....

I do! You're absolutely right, Michael.

    M.... R....

I like this verson and I like Peter paul and Mary but no one does it like bob dylan!

    M.... R....

I agree! You Should listen to waylon jennings’ version it’s also very good!

    M.... R....

i know this is going to sound stupid but a rapper named Post Malone covered this song and it's also better than dylan's.
