He was great none of the players in Nashville now can touch him . he played in different tunings was a real pro and genius. And was a natural actor played in alot of different roles and could do them well. There is no talent in Nashville like that anymore.

Just listen to that fantastic guitar playing and singing too. He never thought of himself as a singer but he had a great baritone voice. You will never hear a guitar player as fantastic as Jerry Reed - He is the best there ever was.

What makes all the greats so great.... Is the fact they had no Egos and they all had their tongues in their cheeks because they knew it was just Showbiz it was just entertainment. Nobody on Hee Haw was trying to outdo anybody else or prove a point they were all just having fun doing what they love to do and entertaining people. If you've never heard Buck Owens cover Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water give it a listen. The guy didn't have art Garfunkel's range but he sure still had the passion. And for all those Hard Rock and metal Fanatics out there that think their Guitar gods are the greatest of all time...... The most awesome shredders that have ever lived...... Mr. Roy Clark could play rings around them any day of the week.

He was an awesome talent ! Who wouldn't want to play the guitar like him ? He could tear up a telecaster, too. He was also relatively humble about his enormous musical talent.

Not a fan of Dylan as a performer - he just sounds constipated.
However my two favourite cover versions are this one and "all along the watchtower" - both by guitar maestros.

Jerry had a neat style..and if you'll notice on all of his instrumentals he gave credit to the back up people..calling them out to play.  He was not an egotist...probably why
he doesn't get proper recognition.  Waylon gave it to him, though

Been listening to covers all evening. Most everyone just sounds so damn happy. Not that it's a bad thing, I just find it a little odd to hear this wonderful wonderful consistantly played upbeatly.

This is good, but Dylan's original Freewheelin' version is the best I've ever heard.

I still think Dylan's is better, only because I think it expresses more relatable emotion, but I really really like this one too. It is completely different, though, so it's hard to compare, I guess.
