Reddy, Helen - I Am Woman Lyrics
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back and pretend
'Cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
Whoa, yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
You can bend but never break me
'Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I'll come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul
Whoa, yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
I am woman, watch me grow
See me standing toe-to-toe
As I spread my loving arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long, long way to go
Until I make my brother understand
Whoa, yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

Jla tue
I am woman here me roar in numbers to big to ignore what powerful words by a strong woman herself Mrs Reddy ,
Helen , wanted all women to be strong but not to the point of abusing that right or manipulating for gain but to let women know they have the ability to be strong in any thing they do or stand for .
This song was made to show women they are worth more and not just by being a housewife , a mother but to change the world in many good ways just like any strong man can do .
Women are powerful but being a woman with power we need to not abuse that gift but use it to change the world to better others in good ways not in negative ways .
JUST being a housewife? being a mother, raising and teaching your children is literally the most important job on the planet, far more important than working in a cubicle as a corporate slave, free your mind from the propaganda and stop diminishing mothers and housewives
I am strong, I am invincible, I am out of syyyyyynnc.
I am woman hear me grunt,
because I am a filthy cunt!
Thank you Helen, for planting in the mind of an 11 year old boy, the seed of understanding. The timing of this songs release was on point. Both culturally, and personally. I heard you roar...and understood why. Here's to the good fight, and one iconic jam! You've come a long way lady!
Helen if only you were
Gorgeous lady
Homer Simpson brought me here
who ever disliked this song should go to hell
who ever disliked this song should go to hell
"Gender is a social construct." LOL. Transgenders vs. feminists. But, seriously, good luck to all my sisters and brothers. Everyone should reach their full potential. We can reach more if we complement talents rather than compete and overlap. A holistic family structure is important to growing children: mom, dad, grandpa and grandma, brothers and sisters, as Mother Nature intended.
F is for Family brought me here lmao
I remember Helen Reddy I was younger I got part of the sixty, seventy I always like her songs she was beautiful unfortunately they don't make music like that anymore men and women will stand shoulder to shoulder on everything
All time classic
Female Homer brought me here.
Woooooo pretty cool, and this comes from a proud misogynist.. and proud of it.
Tucker Carlson brought me here
@Dorian Lollobrigidawhat are you on about, it was a joke, mainly aimed at the Democrat party.
the song is ok, except for the "invincible" chauvinism and jingoism..no man or woman is invincible, only God is invincible
Nice try. It isn't just a joke. Nothing on that network is. It is a consistent program of background messaging to frame the reactions of its audience. How can you not see that---and that Tucker gets drunk every weekend at his country club up in Connecticut and laughs his ass off at you rubes who can't see through his crude and obvious tricks? And by the way, as a fellow Christian, I would imagine the claim to be making "perfect" phone calls and doing nothing wrong should cause you to question your support for Dear Leader. This sorry porn-star fucker is constantly claiming infallibility. I don't pretend to know the mind of god but if President Caligula won't be consigned to the flaming pit I don't know who will be.
@Dorian Lollobrigida get help sicko
My help is from Jesus. Yours obviously isn't. This human sewer, Trump, slept with a pornographic actress while his wife was birthing his child. He has the morals of an aphid. Sixteen women have accused him of assault. How can you support him and then call yourself a CHristian? Christ didn't have horns. He's the one with halo.
@Dorian Lollobrigida I'm not reading your ramblings freak, fuck u and Jesus
Yeah they even existed back then.👍🇺🇸😀
It's a joke, none of you got it.
Poor brother.
Fuck this song, and fuck this bitch singer.
No thanks.
Oh, was was truly great in her day!!!
My Uncle Nelson And Aunt Peggy Came up from Virginia so We Heard
There Was A Skating Show And Competition At the Maine Mall During
The Holidays!!! For Some reason My Sister Eva Was Having A Very Bad
Time. My Mother asked my Sister What Was Wrong But my Sister Did
Not Say Anything!! There Was Also My Girlfriend Debbie And My Sister
Caroline With Us As Well!! My Aunt And Uncle Were Very Concerned As
Well But Eva Just Said "I'll Be All right"!!! When This Song started I Looked
at My Sister Eva And Her Eyes Lit Up And She Started Crying!! She Took my
Hand Then I Felt Like I Swallowed A Jet Engine!!! My Girlfriend And My Sister
Caroline Were Starting To Cry Because they Never Seen Myself And My Twin
Sister Act This Way!! When We Got In the middle Of The Floor Eva SCREAMED
"AERIAL WARS" And all HELL Broke Loose!! Eva, Debbie Caroline, And My Self
Were Literally Blowing Up The Mall Floor!!! I Was BEYOND Wound up So When
Eva SCREAMED "CANNON"!!! I Threw Her, My Sister Caroline, and My Girlfriend
Debbie in the air Like the Were Fired From An Anti-Aircraft Gun!!! My Mother was
Screaming "Allie Be Careful With them"!!! My Mother Came Out and was Skating
With Us!!! I Started Dancing With My Mother And Doing "AERIAL WARS" Moves
While were Were Dancing!!! Everyone including my Aunt And Uncle Were SHOCKED
And TOTALLY Stunned Over The Performance We Put On!!! After We Were Done
Everyone Including My Aunt And Uncle Were Holding And Kissing All Of Us!!! My
Mother Was Talking To My Sister Eva And She Said " She Was upset Because
My Aunt And Uncle Did not Seem To Take Our Skating Ability Seriously" My Uncle
Said "There Is NO WAY Anyone could even come close to Skating Like You Kids
Can"!!! Eva Said Then That We Do This So We Could Show How Much We love
Our Mother!!! I Was Still So Wound Up That I Had Tears In My Eyes and Crying My
Heart out!!! I Was Holding Eva And Debbie And They Had All They Could Do To
Calm Me Down!!! We Were All Hugging Each Other And Crying Our Hearts Out!!
Then My Aunt And Uncle Wanted To Dance With Us So We Went Out With them
And Eva Said To Me " Show Aunt Peggy The CANNON"!!! I Skated Behind My Aunt
And Tossed Her Into The Air Then Eva And Debbie Caught Her!!! My Uncle Went
Crazy And My Mother Said "OH SHIT"!!! My Aunt Said To My Uncle "Don't Tell
ANYONE These Kids Can't Skate"!!! I Found out later from my Mother This was
My Sister Eva's Favorite Song!!!
Such a great song!
Sex & the city 2 brought me here OMG I love this song!!!!!!
Of course I remembered this song from the 70's, but back then for me it was just catchy background music. Recently, now in my late 50s, I heard it again and took a more serious retrospective look at the lyrics. Those lyrics, and the song as whole, really are an absolute gem. The lyrics can fit almost any group emerging from obscurity towards becoming a strong force. I love how the song captures the struggles of the past, celebrates the progress made and the camaraderie of shared struggle, and proclaims with conviction and even bravado that the bright future envisioned is not merely possible but rather inevitable. It's never cruel, never apologetic, never admits any doubt, and contain not a single note a self-pity. My favorite lines are these:
"Oh yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained"
Isn't that just so poetic, powerful, even uplifting? Helen Reddy wrote a great song here.
Goosebumps!
2020 hearing this beauty woman since 1982 when was a kid !!!
Spread your Legs Helen uou ready?
YES!!!!! I was 12 when this came out!!!!!! didn't quite understand it then BUT SHI* SURE do now!!!!!! AMEN
how many straight men can say that thay were tought the bumb from there mom , to this song ????? Scottie boys hand goes up = )
Im 23 this is my song 🔥🔥🔥
Have to admit Cersei Lannister certainly looks like Helen Reddy here.
Did she take the song to heart ?
"I heard you paint houses book brought me here.
Nice rack
from this song I see a woman who is not ashamed of her body.but is also a feminist
Lifetime economic value of a woman is 1 million dollars less, than a man. For that, man get 1.3 children. Lousy deal for sure. 21st century woman are the least useful in human history, unless you think extinction is a good outcome.
This music for this song was written by a man.
I love it....I love it.... I am woman....
Love Helen!
I'm a man. I love this song. I love how she smiles.... the 70's
Lost my sister last year 2018. Now my mother with dementia and scared shitless.
This song started the notion woman can do what men can do ! was a disaster in the making as history has shown !
Found the misogynist
@Margaret M no am a realist
In 1971 I was 21 and I really felt like she sang. I am 70 now. How do I feel? Well, I was way ahead of my time and got soundly cuffed on the ears by society and I withdrew finally. Now I am working on the invincible inner self. But my assessment: WE STILL HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO.
My Childhood anthem!
I was 10 years old in 1971, I always liked this song. But now I understand what she was singing about in that great decade 1970s. We are all equal, and that's how it should be.
Buuut women aren't strong or invincible
Wtf she is obviously lip syncing 2:47
I loved this song back in the day. Still do. I remember thinking this song represented my mom, the woman I want to marry and the daughter I want to raise. Helen Reddy had a magnificent voice! She was IT during the early ‘70’s. Hard to believe it was nearly 70 years ago.
Such empowerment. All women, all races, all backgrounds and circumstances!
Audience has zero expression, crazy.... but then again i still see this today...
Timeless
Powerful yet sweet!!
Today's feminist should hear this song and take some lessons! Stop being so goddamn sensitive and grow a vagina for Christ's sake!
Swarly.
Men are the partners of women in this life, not the competitors.
The title says that this song is the 1971 version. It isn't. This is the 1972 version that was changed for its release. The 1971 version wasn't released as a single.
I'm a woman hear me bitch
Buy my records and make me rich.
Even though it says "I am woman", I think it can apply to anyone
Even though I did not like her singing ( she sings through her nose) I loved the song. Am 73 and had to struggle to be heard. And still struggling but at least my daughter was able to get a bank account without her father or husband signing and a mortgage! Thank you Helen Reddy, you were an inspiration for us at the time and now!
Not just Red pilled but Black pilled as well. When i was a young girl all the way into my middle years i admired Helen Reddy. But not any more. As a 55 year old lesbian i am just going to say it, that is a dude. I hate being lied to.
This song is embarrassing
thank you MARTY (sky tanner) for playing this song for me in the early 70's.
Didn't know being a woman was a skill.
Sorry thewomen of today dont quite understand what my generation went thru for them. Thank God for the feminest movement keep it strong young women or you'll be right back where we once were.
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'Cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

So Powerful!
2019 anyone?
I love this song. Heard my media arts teacher listening to this. So empowering!! I am woman.
I can do anyyything........with the exception of successfully lip synching this song ......
hillary lost the election due to russian meddling
Or by never setting foot in the state of Wisconsin for a single campaign event.
I am a 60-year-old man who was a youngster when this was a big hit in the early 1970s. It remains an inspiration to me to this day since I have four younger sisters and would naturally want them to have every right and opportunity as I.
Thank you, Helen Reddy!
Steve Dow you are sexy
thank you
I remember this, from the first ever Midnight Special, which Helen Reddy hosted.
Steve Dow same here, age wise. I was a HUGE Helen Reddy fan and was lucky enough to see her three times in concert. The first was the summer of 1974 when I was 14. Helen was the consummate entertainer
You should all hear Kerry Butler do a cover of this. Wonderful. :D
What’s going on with you Vincent?? Are you okay??
swarley
Mom used to play this over and over when i was a Kidd...till today it still makes me weep nostalgia...thank you H.Reddy
Still applicable today...go all women...show that power!
Love this song.
What a voice.
She was pretty hot in her day.
Yes great song but the inspiration should be for woman is Our Lady the Blessed Virgin Mary they should try to emulate her ...
made in australia😍😍
If you have to you can do anything......How about just doing it....not cause you "have to"...
Except now days she'd have to get permission from the trans community to make that statement or else her career would end before it even started. I think I want to go back in time when life was simpler.
amazing voice
She should be wearing a bra.
Wisdom born of pain....
Yes ma'am I love this song
This is the songs for Swarley, himym ahahaha
This song floated into my mind when I installed a new water heater the other day. I've come to terms with, if you want something done, do it ya damn self!
That's great😁😆
You go girl!
Now that's a virtuous story, God bless
What a gorgeous voice!
Helen Reddy is celebrating her 78 birthday today, 25 October 2019 (Born in 1941)
