Redbone - Niki Hokey Lyrics
Down in Louisiana
Down in Cajun Land
Folks got something goin’
Goes something like
Folks go a git’ chat tootisie
I wants to ‘tie ya puppe ‘tame me
Gonna dig ya on a scoobydoo
Gonna gotcha on a scuba die
Ooh boog-a-boo you
You ooh boog-a-boo you, little boy
Get hip to the consultation of the boolawee
Said, golly, golly Miss Molly
Everything’s copesetic now
Boog-a-boo look at you
You ooh boog-a-boo you, little boy
Get hip to the consultation of the boolawee
Niki, Niki Hoeky
Your pappy ‘s doing time in the pockey
Your sister’s on a trip
Your momma got hip
Little boy you’re lookin’ okay
You ooh boog-a-boo you, little boy
Get hip to the consultation of the bolawee
I’m talking ‘bout your boola
Talking ‘bout that wee
I’m talking ‘bout your boola
Talking ‘bout that wee
Well get hip to the consultation of the boolawee
Niki, Niki, Niki
Niki, Niki, Niki
Niki, Niki, Niki Hoeky

Redbone Niki Hokey Comments
I went to see Redbone in 1970 at Selland Arena in Fresno, California after hearing their debut album. I really liked the style and original approach to their music moreover, it was the combination of embraced Indian heritage and a rock & roll band that I thought was great. Making a rock & roll band influenced from their roots was simply brilliant. They represented Indians well and showing dignity and pride that was certainly respectful.I was truly sorry to hear Tony Bellamy & Lolly Vegas had died.R.I.P.
Help get Redbone into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: https://www.change.org/p/greg-harris-redbone-help-get-them-into-the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame...Read the memoirs of Pat Vegas and Pete "King Kong Pete" De Poe on Amazon.
Tony Bellamy sang.. Lolly and Pat's song , but I believe someone else helped write it but can not find the name?
Jim Ford....
This is my favorite version. Got to see Redbone a few times in the 70s. A great group, especially Lolly and Pat Vegas. Their REAL last name was Vasquez (like mine) before they took the stage name Vegas.
Yes, because they were Chicano, not Native American. Bit of a scam dressing in the tribal costumes.
pretorious700 I believe they were of mixed race, if you do any research you would find that out, hence their band name Redbone.
@pretorious700 You my friend, are so misinformed. All people who's DNA is from Turtle Island... are indigenous... There are no borders.... Don't buy what the Anglos tried to label us.... U don't believe me? If u are brown/red..have your DNA done... My blood is mostly Native American... With European blood.....Educate yourself... Throw away labels..
....RISE.. 😘❤☀✌🐺

Groovy! Love it hahahahaha yeah!

However Lolly Vegas was cowriter. So kind of doing his own song.

This tune was covered by about 150 other artists.
