Redbone - Chant: 13th Hour Lyrics

Will you be counted when the roll call comes?
Will you be counted when the roll call comes?
Spread your wings and fly, the future's ours
The masters of your own domain in the thirteenth hour
Give peace a holiday and time to grow

Give us just a little more time
Give us just a little more time
Give us just a little more time
Give us just a little more time

Number thirteen give a man his dream
Number thirteen give a man his dream

Late night blooming blossom like a flower
In the thirteenth hour
'Til the thirteenth hour
Give peace a holiday and time to grow

Give us just a little more time
Give us just a little more time
Give us just a little more time
Give us just a little more time

Will you be counted when the roll call comes?
Will you be counted when the roll call comes?
Will you be counted when the roll call comes?
Will you be counted when the roll call comes?

It's great to reconnect with Redbone, I was a fan back in the day and I still am. I pray they all faired well in their lives.

Mr. Means was correct, we are all on the Reservation , may he live forevermore.

  21. channelseeker7

Haunting and addictive sound, can't get enough.

  22. Rayer Scarpensael

When I was little boy in 1973 I listened to their first records night and day, almost 50 years later , I agree with my little self of old , redbone was the best band ever on earth, their first 4 records. What a waste. What a pain. They should have had a 50 year long carreer. Never a decent come back, too many band changes and bad carreer choices after Wovoka. So sad. They had such immense talent. Their music breathes the plains, timeless, with modern instruments you are right amidst an oglala war council.

  23. JD just a Dog

Shawnee and other tribes, 1/4. Well, the bison have returned and some of us can find it in the local supermarkets. We have more power over our destiny developing our lands into economies to invest into infrastructure and services for the people. We are the fastest growing ethnic economy in the US. Yes, we are returning. The rest of Wovoka's prophecies will come in time. I'll just dance the Ghost Dance with him on top of the iron horse.

  53. every buddy

If Redbone would have performed at Woodstock, and yea, they would have been totally accepted there, then they might have gotten the break they needed to get past the Management/Distribution/the Racist (borrowed this from someone else) that kept them from becoming a famous band

  54. Alan S

Vote in November 2018, if you want to be heard for once! Do not let the lying demoncrats sell you anymore food, etc. This is the year to be Really heard by this President. The Drums, Chants Shell dances are very powerful forms of Spiritual Purification. The Native Americans were wise beyond their years. It is a shame to mankind for nearly driving such a pure race of people to extinction over greed.

  64. Norm Storm

    Caddo. Love Redbone

  65. drumier

loved this band when they came out round 70 they used the leslie spinning cabinet on one or both of the guitars which had been around for awhile they crafted a unique fusion of sounds and made something that was completely native in it's aura. back then i went to see jeff beck's rough and ready band , some guy's that called themselve's "aerosmith" opened up they were an energetic bunch of young fellas that played a lot of boogie , rock and blues ,i thought to myself what do you think you are the rolling stones? anyway next up was redbone and they came out dressed in native suedes ,leathers feathers and looked great. they played a crack sharp set that i'll never forget there was a phrase that the two guitar players did in "maggie" that made it sound like they had horn players in the band totally freak. pete de poe took a page from james brown and sly stone and made his own beat with the bass player that is danceable in any arena but has a unique tribal quality. this piece is my favorite opening with the drone vocal in cave reverb cutting into the stomping groove on one chord which carries the verses then an eight bar bridge that ends followed by a guitar cue that brings the groove back in. that sequence is out of meter when i try to count it and sounds like warriors following the chiefs's hand signal, amazing.

  66. Don't knock the rock

I love that Leslie guitar amp sound.

I have been a red bone fan since day one and was lucky to see what's left of them do a show at northern lights casino I drove up from Racine wisc to mohican nation dropped of daughter at menomenie powwow in keshena and headed to the show all in attendance were dancing up a storm even the elders there are two worlds in America and all that fame means nothing if your not human I'll tell ya the most humble people in the world no different than you or I it just happens that they made a life out of there God given talent and grew up in a different time than today I remember that time liveing on fort hall rez.in Idaho it was like the movie Billy jack how people were back then and they survived that day it's different today with all casino money and so on times are hard today but back when life was very hard no running water or heat little to no food some still live that way line ridge is like third world but some how the people live to survive

Native American rock band REDBONE wrote Come And Get Your Love (which kicked off blockbuster movie "Guardians of the Galaxy") and is theme song of "F is For Family". REDBONE is in the Smithsonian Museum and Native American Music Association Hall of Fame. See movie "Rumble: Indians Who Rocked the World", which shows their influence on Rock and Roll generally and Black Eyed Peas particularly.
REDBONE song "One More Time" is in movie "Person to Person."
Lead singer Lolly Vegas co wrote Cindi Lauper hit "Hey Now Girls Just Want to Have Fun".

I'm a full blooded creek or muscogee Indian. And I grew up in a all white community. With my mother and 12 brothers and sisters. The image this band set forth made us proud. I have always worn my hair long. And love it when non natives instantly recognize me as native.

Never heard their other songs before. Wow, they're great!

    Brenton Horner

They are the first Native American rock band, are in the Smithsonian, The Native American Music Association Hall of Fame, are in movie "Rumble: Indians Who Rocked the World", and have been a huge cultural and musical force. Witch Queen of New Orleans is a Halloween standard, and Come And Get Your Love is an iconic standard frequently heard In motion pictures such as "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "F is For Family". Read Wikipedia. They've written countless great songs like Tennessee Girl, Custer Had it Coming, We Were all Wounded At Wounded Knee, Message From a Drum One More Time ( its in movie "Person to Person"), Fais Do, Wokova, Maggie, Suzi Girl, Little Girl, Drinking and Blo, One Monkey, When You Got Trouble, Prehistoric Rhythm, Rebecca, Liquid Truth, Speakeasy - and more. Their importance can not be overstated. Listen to these songs!

Redbone should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
