I'm fairly certain you're wrong man. Wherever you got that information is false. I actually believe you'd be hard pressed to find a pre-2007 video with Josh onstage with them. MAYBE 2006, but certainly no earlier. He's hung out with the band since at least 99', but didn't join them onstage until 07'. There may have been once or twice (though not to my knowledge), but certainly not a steady thing like you seem to think it was.

Why B-sides (like this one) are better than the album songs? I think they don't know how to choose them and pick the less good ones...

It isn't the Chili's fault. The management choose the songs that go on the album and this is why songs like Quixoticelixer don't end up on the album, rather as iTunes exclusives or Singles B-sides.

While it is a great song (one of my favorites by them actually), I can see why this didn't make the album. It just doesn't have the right feel for By the Way, it doesn't match the fast-paced funk of the title track, Can't Stop, and Throw Away Your Television, and it doesn't go with the slower style of songs like Tear or Midnight. The only thing on the album I can think of that fits with this stylistically is On Mercury (which honestly shouldn't be on the album either), and even then it's only marginally similar. Still a great song, though.

Upon reading this, I understand exactly what you're saying. I love 'On Mercury', incidentally!

It comes from the old days when an album was recorded on vinyl, and the artist would put their best work on the top or "A-side" and they would record their work that they didn't consider as good (or in some cases just an instrumental) to fill the space on the opposite, or "B-side". The term is just used as slang now for songs that aren't on the official album. Protip: google youtube converter and get your B-sides that way

A b-side is the opposiute side of a hit on a 45 record the hit is the a-side and the b-side is the unreleased music deemed unfit for the charts. It wasn't released officially but it is rare sometimes to find one actually. Having the original B-side on a single can be rare in other words. It's not just a RHCP thing but their B-sides are really good actually some like gong li, this song, million miles of water, dosed, funny face, lately.
