Rea, Chris - Somewhere Between Highway 61 & 49 Lyrics
Only God know what I'm feeling
I'm just waiting for a sign
Only God know what I'm feeling
See me looking for that sign
But the devil he may get me
Well now Mama used to cry
Lord help that boy of mine
My Mama used to cry
She said lord help that son of mine
Cos there's only one place that he's wanting
Somewhere between Highway 61 and 49
Oh there was only ever one place
For the troubled soul to find
For the troubled soul to find
Caught between the bible and the devil
Somewhere between Highway 61 and 49
Roll a dice, take a chance
Put your future on the line
Roll a dice and take a chance
Put your future on the line
Cos your fear and your fortune
Is somewhere between Highway 61 and 49
There's only one place he can go now
There's only one place for this kind
Somewhere between Highway 61 and 49

Rea, Chris Somewhere Between Highway 61 & 49 Comments
Wow-just my new favorite blues song!
Always lookin fur somethin to get a layer deeper into the blues, that's what it's all about-this one is the cat's meow!!!
Chris , лапочка
Виртуозно , Паганини
In the US - by accident I found him - I saw him perform live twice - had tickets for 2017 - but United Airlines messed us up and we didn't get there.
amazing strat. no other like him
keep on sliding
Listen to Mississippi Fred McDowell doing My Babe live in 1971. Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones also redid southern US and Chicago blues songs, after getting the records in England, and revived this 20s to 50s style that led to the blues rock style in the 60s and 70s. Rick Beato has some good videos about rock history. Chris Rea's guitar is made in Italy, and is worth about $400 used and $700 new- he bought it based on the sound and playability, instead of a 1959 overpriced Les Paul. Rea's sparkly blue Les Paul copy is an Italia Maranello Classic, and he has a few of them.
Watching this video is watching a true Master of his art. In awe of him for a long long time.
Спасибо Крис,чудесно.

What a set the Blue Guitars is
A real exploration of the many facets of authentic American blues. Chris Rea is a true musical genius
... she didn't say he was an American, only that he was playing American blues...
Balázs Radics Redcar, England my grandad grew up with him and was his best friend.
@Sir Humphrey Appleby have to agree, little if anything is known about English Blues (the fact is that the BLUES are Universal, covering the entire globe, and not only back to the negroes taken from Africa to work as slaves in the US of A and what that turned into; Chris Rea proves it time and time again in the many and varied albums he has put out, especially the newer ones produced by his own Production Company "Jazzee Blues", some of the best Blues I have had the good fortune to hear for the past 40+ years, even though he is nearing the end through ill health, he seems to get better at playing the BLUES as he gets older and with the tight group he has accumulated he will only get better.
@Keith Pittell there is NO such thing as American Blues, it is simply The BLUES, as everybody on this planet gets the Blues from time to time, whether they come from, anywhere on this planet EARTH; God Bless you Chris Rea for the many years of fantastic Blues playing.
@Michael E Adlington … that comment was 2 yrs ago, dogg… try to keep up... besides, we Yanks invented the genre, so yeah... American Blues... the Brits just imitate it...
This guy doesn't get near enough recognition. Kinda like Richard Thompson, he's one of the best acts out there that no one ever heard of. And, like Thompson, he can play the guitar every bit as good as Clapton or Jimmy Page but just doesn't get credit for it. Go figure.....
He is very well known and highly respected in the guitarist circles . But Chris doesn't do the I'm a big rock star thing .
@Jack Russell Yeah, Thompson doesn't, either, but I enjoy their stuff every bit as much as I ever did the "super stars". I mean, really... when have ever heard Clapton make a guitar tell a story like Chis does on this song?
Larry Martin Richard Thompson Is Amazing . 1st Time I Saw Him It Sounded Like 3 Guitarist's . Ridiculously Good 👍
I do believe that route if in the US is Route 66, now Highway 40 &45 if my memory is correct. I traveled that route several times. :)
Highway 61 is the Blues hwy, in Louisiana known as the Blues Trail

167 vs 0 ... says it all ;-)
Had to look up Highways 61 and 49 to be sure, and, sure enough, they roll straight through Louisiana and Mississippi. U.S. 49 starts north from the water's edge in Gulfport, and 61 comes straight out of downtown NOLA.
THIS GUY IS "THE BEST"... AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED. HE'S FREAKIN' HANDSOME ANS SEXY AND I LOVE HIS MUSIC. I HAVE A BUNCH OF HIS CD'S BUT I LISTEN TO HIM ON U/T TOO. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING....BJ
@ghosterdude italia maranello classic . the cool thing about it is that it costs about 400 bucks and sounds like this :)
what guitar is that?
merci, merci, merci merci Chris Réa
...starts slow, a little lyrically clumsy...then it rolls hard.
...some of the best.

Waiting for Chris in Belgrade !

Met him yet ?
CHRIS sei semptre il migliore
Brilliant performance. Chris exhibits a raw blues style and competence that you would not believe when compared to his usual commercial stuff!
Oh how I wish he would come here (the States.) I swear, I'd quit my damned job to be where ever his show was.
VABkWrm
I HEARD THAT!!!!
You and I both, my friend.
I know! It's crazy. I first heard Chris on a radio station in San Antonio back in '89. Went out and bought every cd I could find by him. Been dragging his music around ever since. I was hauling home improvement products out of a DIB warehouse at Sikeston Mo. which is located on Highway 61, and I believe 49 is to the west, or central Mo. He's from the UK for crying out loud.
